Random thoughts Friday, Volume C

  • The Meadows Texts > Hunter’s laptop
  • Republicans:  It’s immoral to talk to children about LGBTQ people.  Also Republicans:  Marge should discuss buying dildos and butt plugs at a Young Republicans dinner.  For the children.
  • Trump’s NFT scam proves P.T. Barnum underestimated the pace at which suckers are born.
  • Any rational, mature adult would be embarrassed by such a vainglorious depiction of themselves as those pictorials on Trump’s NFTs and would distance themselves from the product, unless it’s a parody which Trump’s isn’t.  Trump, of course, is not rational and mature.  He envisions himself as a superhero hybrid of Mussolini and Superman, with laser beams shooting out his eyes.  SuperTrumLini®.
  • You could sub Colin Jost with/for Willie Geist and no one would be the wiser.
  • Snakes–my least favorite species on Earth, after MAGAts–have forked tongues because their olfactory glands are in the tips of their tongues and the forks at the tips allow them to smell in stereo, giving them an advantage when hunting prey.  They’re just armless, legless killing machines.
  • Speaking of Mussolini, Musk is turning out to be less of a Free Speech advocate and more of a NIMBY.
  • I really like stoned, out-of-office John Boehner.  He’s the regular at your corner bar who would offer the bartender a joint as a tip.  Why is it Republicans who were once in leadership can be friendly, normalish people after they walk away, but their humanity must vacate their souls for their terms in office?
  • Lemon Oreos, still the favorite.  But the Toffee Crunch materialized in second place, leapfrogging the competition.
  • Elon Musk’s Twitter profile pic looks like the headshot of an actor hoping to play Mr. Belding in a Fox Nation streaming reboot of Saved By the Bell.
  • Finally got my bivalent booster today.  After all the medical fuckery that happened to me in the last year, I’m not taking chances with anything.  And neither should you!  Get the shot!
  • Saying Republican voter suppression efforts don’t exist because voters in Georgia and Arizona overcame them is like saying the Confederate States of America didn’t exist because the Union defeated it.  And we know how much Republicans cherish the Confederacy.
  • An argument could be made that this is RtF CI, not C.  But the (proposed) I was not an RtF, therefore not in the volumes but still canon.  I note this, of course, for the future generations who will study these missives at an RtFcon for their historical impact on some distant future date.  In some distant parallel galaxy.
  • Think of this:  119 years ago tomorrow, humankind experienced the first flight of a powered and controlled heavier-than-air craft.  This week, humankind created a controlled nuclear fusion ignition for the first time.  That happened in four generations.  What will our great-grandchildren see?
  • Wearing a new brand of underwear is a little like a blind date:  most times, you can tell immediately if it was not meant to be.
  • Joe Biden’s track record to date is a pretty remarkable set of accomplishments, but getting the Respect for Marriage Act passed with GOP support is a sign of his leadership.  (And PS:  It was about time, America!)
  • I really hope the FBI agents who hand the upcoming indictments to the individual members of the Trump cabal take good quality cameras with them to record the expression on people’s faces.  And I really hope those faces include Ron Johnson, Ted Cruz, Andy Biggs, Scott Perry, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Paul Gosar, Rudy Giuliani, The Kraken, and Junior (list not complete).  And I hope Aaron Rupar’s Twitter account is reactivated so he can post a loop of their shocked mugs.
  • One hundred is a lot of random thoughts, and no, I haven’t counted the total number.  But it seems only fit to thank two people in particular for getting to the centenary:  Spartan, for creating this place to be informative, mad, excited, angered and (hopefully) entertaining.  And my ever-supportive and beautiful wife, Mrs. Jack, for being indulgent and helpful on Friday and every other day; she literally makes these possible.  Finally, to you readers, thank you.  It’s fun reading your feedback and comments, and seeing that one or two bullet points may have made people think about something makes me smile.  It’s because of you that we create RtF and the rest, and we truly appreciate your continuing support.
  • So who brought the cake?
