In the sequel no one wanted, but everyone expected–much like Stayin’ Alive or George W. Bush–former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein was found guilty of raping an actress in California, USA Today reports.
The verdict virtually assures that the 70-year-old co-founder of Miramax, currently serving a 23-year prison sentence in New York after being convicted of a series of sexual assaults in 2020, will spend the rest of his life behind bars. The jury convicted Weinstein on one of four counts; the jury hung on the other three counts, including one filed involving Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom.
Weinstein, who is suffering from advanced medical issues, attended the trial in a wheelchair. After he was convicted of multiple charges in New York, he spent some time at the notorious Rikers Island facility before being extradited to California for trial on these charges. He will be transferred back to New York to start his prison sentence after his California sentencing hearing.
