It’s not a diplomatic coup like inviting Taliban leaders to celebrate the anniversary of the September 11th attacks while visiting the President of the United States at Camp David or elevating a tinpot dictator of an impoverished Asian nation to the level of a world power, but the Biden Administration continues to rack up diplomatic victories. This one: the release of two Americans who had been held by the Taliban in Afghanistan, the Washington Post reports.
“The United States welcomes the release of two U.S. nationals from detention in Afghanistan,” said a senior administration official. “We continue to provide all appropriate assistance. We are glad these U.S. nationals will reunite with their families soon. Out of respect for the privacy of these individuals and their families, we are not going to confirm names.”
