At least 55 Americans and counting, including 25 in Erie County, New York, were killed in weather-related incidents over Christmas weekend, NBC News reports. The death toll is expected to climb as bodies turn up in cars and buried under drifts of snow – which is still falling in the Buffalo area and will do so until Tuesday afternoon. Other states to see deaths in the massive storm were Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
