Marty Walsh resigning as Labor Secretary to run NHL Union

Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh will be the first Cabinet Secretary of the Biden Administration to resign after taking a job to be the head of the National Hockey League’s player’s union, NBC News reports.

The 55-year-old former mayor of Boston will go back to his union roots: he led the Boston Building Trades union prior to entering politics. He’s scheduled to leave his job in mid-March to become the executive director of the NHL Players’ Association.
