Media Matters senior fellow Matthew Gertz has obtained a copy of Rupert Murdoch’s deposition in the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit against Fox News and is currently tweeting out snippets instead of just giving us a goddamned link to the PDF. One that sticks out is the revelation that Murdoch personally provided Jared Kushner with copies of Biden’s 2020 campaign ads before they aired on the network, which it need not be said was a pretty fucking scummy, cheating move.
“During Trump’s campaign, Rupert provided Trump’s son-in-law and senior advisor, Jared Kushner, with Fox confidential information about Biden’s ads, along with debate strategy. (providing
Kushner a preview of Biden’s ads before they were public),” says the filing. It’s not clear what “along with debate strategy means,” as we can’t think of any reason Murdoch would have any inside info on that. Might’ve been just general insight based on past performances vs Sarah Palin and Paul Ryan.
Another reveal in the deposition is that Fox News came pretty close to calling the entire election on November 5th or 6th 2020 but backed off and decided to go second on the 7th after fans lost their shit over the early Arizona call which ruined Trump’s election night plans. And of course how Fox News knowingly lied to viewers about election fraud. Same old shit, different court document.
