Nevada’s first-year MAGAt governor Joe Lombardo will likely be hit with a fine up to $1.7 million by the state ethics commission for wearing his sheriff’s badge and uniform in campaign advertising for his 2022 run for office, the Associated Press reports.
Citing 68 separate violations of the state ethics code, the executive director of the Nevada Commission on Ethics will also recommend to the board establishing an overseer for the governor’s office to ensure compliance with state ethics policies. Lombardo, who served two terms as Clark County sheriff, a non-partisan position, repeatedly used images of himself in either full uniform or in civilian attire but which his sheriff’s star in ads that were run dozens of time of television, online or in print.
