Democratic former New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio improperly used on-duty New York City Police officers as his personal security detail during his 2020 campaign for the Democratic nomination for president, a city government integrity board decided, Politico reports.
The city’s Conflicts of Interest Board ordered De Blasio to pay $474,794 to cover a $155,000 fine and the travel expenses for the police officers involved. According to OpenSecrets.org, De Blasio’s campaign and affiliated SuperPAC raised just $2 million combined during the entire 2020 campaign.
