Retiring republican Senator Lamar Alexander of Tennessee has said he would support a Supreme Court nomination made by President Trump before the November election, Politico reported.
Alexander, who supported the block against President Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland in an election year, said in a statement “No one should be surprised that a Republican Senate majority would vote on a Republican president’s Supreme Court nomination, even during a presidential election year. The Constitution gives senators the power to do it. The voters who elected them expect it.”
