It’s July 11th–7/11 in numerical terms–a day that 7-Eleven convenience stores would be giving out free Slurpees to celebrate its moniker.
But on this 7/11, you can blame coronavirus for that being cancelled today.
Wary that customers would flock to their stores and inadvertently spread the coronavirus, 7-Eleven cancelled the promotion for this year.
“Gathering nine million of our closest friends in stores on one day just didn’t feel right,” said Marissa Jarratt, 7-Eleven’s chief marketing officer, NBC News reported.
The United States recorded more than 71,000 new coronavirus cases yesterday, a record high.
