Trump surrogate and Nosferatu cosplayer Rudy Giuliani told a group of dozens of Trump supporters in Philadelphia Monday that people don’t die of the coronavirus anymore, CNN reports.
“People don’t die of this disease anymore,” the 76-year-old Giuliani told the group as he stood in front of them without a mask. “Young people don’t die at all. Middle aged people die very little. And even elderly people have only a one percent chance of dying.”
In fact, the seven-day running average of fatalities from the coronavirus exceeds 700 in the United States, with the seven-day average of new cases exceeding 50,000. Death is not the only outcome of the infection, with survivors experiencing long-term symptoms like lung scarring, muscle atrophy and heart damage.
Children are becoming a larger portion of those infected with coronavirus, and they can experience long-term impacts from the disease, as well as transmit it to family members. The Trump Administration attempted to understate the impact of COVID-19 on children by altering CDC reports.
