The number of humans infected with bird flu in the United States jumped by one-third after a man in Colorado became the fourth person in the United States with a confirmed infection, Reuters reports. All four people infected in the US have worked at dairy farms and contracted the virus there.
While more than 48 million poultry birds have been destroyed because of infections, human infections typically aren’t fatal. The previous three US patients exhibited eye irritation or slight respiratory problems, but have all recovered.
