Whatever’s left of the Wagner Group after their founder Yevgeny Prighozin’s plane took a hard landing last summer took a serious beating during a battle with Tuareg rebels in the Saharan Desert country of Mali, near the border with Algeria, CBS News reports, citing the company itself.
It’s still not clear how many of the Russian mercenaries were killed in last week’s fight, some pro-Ukrainian accounts on Twitter said it was at least 80. Others showed videos of the carnage and photos purportedly of the Tuaregs holding up a Ukrainian flag alongside their own after the battle.
