Scientists at the Alaska Volcano Observatory have concluded that, despite months of increasing activity on the peak about 75 miles west of Anchorage earlier this year, Mount Spurr is currently too weak and low energy to erupt anytime in the near or even middle term, the AP reports.
“Minor gas emissions and a slightly higher number of small earthquakes could persist for many months to several years,” the observatory said in a statement about the limp, volcano.
