A number of individual MAGA voters who responded to the Associated Press and NORC’s national survey from earlier this week were subsequently interviewed and asked to elaborate on how they thought things were going, like 64 year-old John Candela, of New Rochelle, New York, who said the cost of living is the same, his income hasn’t increased, and bills haven’t gone down.
“Still paying $5 for Oreos,” said Candela, who did not name the price point for the iconic cookie brand he’d had expected a standard 13.6 ounce pack to be by this point when he’d cast a ballot for convicted felon President Trump back in November 2024. Yet Candela’s willing to be patient, telling an AP reporter “I would expect it to be different by the time his four years are up,” as if it remains necessary for him to lie to himself and someone he’s never met before about stupid Trump.
“I don’t like the man as a human being. I don’t like his brashness. I don’t like his roughness. I don’t like how he types out his texts all capital as if he’s yelling at everybody. But what I approve of is what he is doing to try and get the country on track,” Candela then added, not actually saying how he appreciates the “trying” if Oreos are still $5 a pack at wherever he buys his groceries.
Texan three-time Trump voter and children’s pastor Ryan Hughes, 28, said his healthcare bills aren’t going down but he’s also “not looking to the government to secure my financial future,” as though he would turn down a $500,000 grant from RFK Jr’s HHS to promote alternatives to measles vaccines or Linda McMahon’s Department of Education to help debunk the woke elitist Periodic Table.
“I don’t like anybody getting killed, but it wasn’t Trump’s fault,” 69 year-old Ohio printing business owner Kevin Kellenbarger said of Renee Good’s murder in Minneapolis. Kellenbarger said his Christian faith led him to become a Republican and vote for Trump three times. “Biden let millions of people in. They have to be taken out,” said the white Christian who doesn’t blame the Orange God Emperor for another white Christian getting shot in the face three times after Trump ordered ICE to surge into the city because some incel filmed himself outside of an empty daycare center.
Texan Republican Liz Gonzalez, the 40 year-old daughter of Mexican immigrants expressed dismay over “families that are being separated and they’re just here to try to live the American dream,” and then went right into how if the libs in Minneapolis would “just let ICE, you know, like the patrol people, do their jobs, then they would see it’s not — it doesn’t have to be chaos.” Yeah well Trump didn’t have to send them there to terrorize people when it’s widely understood that the number of truly undocumented Somali immigrants in Minnesota would fit on a couple of 747s, if that, when the overall size of the community living in the state is in the hundreds of thousands.
