Don’t worry if you don’t remember former child star Kirk Cameron. He’s best known for a role in the TV sitcom “Growing Pains” which went off the air in the 1992. But somehow he’s still an icon of the evangelical movement… like a Scott Baio without the sexual abuse allegations.
The star of the widely-panned but nonetheless popular-among-evangelicals Left Behind series of movies, Cameron has now embraced the coronavirus denial cause according to CNN, organizing maskless Christmas caroling in Southern California.
“We are going to be celebrating our God-given liberties, our constitutionally protected rights at this time at Christmas to sing Christmas songs to gather [sic], to assemble, and to sing about the birth of our savior,” Cameron posted on Instagram.
While Southern California has been hit with a massive outbreak of the coronavirus to the point that hospital intensive care units are reaching capacity, Cameron urged people to gather at The Oaks mall in Ventura County to sing songs. The Oaks officially distanced itself from the effort.
Cameron’s TV sister, Tracey Gold, took to Twitter to scold her fictional brother.
Checking in with my dear brother Mike. @KirkCameron As your more intelligent sister I want you to know that I disapprove. I’m worried about you brother AND your family. Wear a mask. Stay home. Sing later. ❤️ 😷
