The first of many federal criminal cases resulting from the attempted coup at the Capitol on Wednesday have been filed against Christopher Alperts of Maryland, Brad Heath of Reuters reports.
In the police report relating to Alperts’ arrest, the Capitol Police officer noted that Alperts had a Taurus G2C 9 mm handgun on his person which had a 12-round magazine. He had chambered a round in the weapon, and he had another 12-round magazine on him. Alperts was also wearing a bulletproof vest.
A second person, Mark Leffingwell [spelling unconfirmed], has been charged with trespassing, assaulting a federal law officer and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. Leffingwell allegedly was arrested after repeatedly striking with a closed fist a Capitol Police officer in the building.
