The United States averaged more than 3,000 per day in the last seven days, as 21,400 people died in the nation due to the coronavirus, and another 1.26 million people had new confirmed cases of the virus, according to the COVID tracking project.
There were some positive signals, however: the number of people hospitalized with coronavirus has dropped about 12% over the last ten days, with the Friday seeing the largest single day drop, to 116,264.
Also, CNN reports that more than 1.6 million people received the coronavirus vaccination Friday, the most getting it on one day, increasing the total inoculated to 19 million. While states struggle with obtaining inventory of doses, increased production, more vaccinations in the foreseeable future, and lowering hospitalizations portend a reduction in cases.
