White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki slapped down a question from Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy during today’s press briefing for selectively cherrypicking a part of a quote from union leader Richard Trumka.
Apparently trying to make the ridiculous assertion that workers in the fossil fuel industry who may lose their jobs because of President Biden shutting down the Keystone XL pipeline and other fossil fuel projects, Doocy claimed that the workers would immediately be able to jump into other “green” jobs, an assertion not made by the Biden Administration.

Psaki urged Doocy to present his “data of the thousands and thousands of people who won’t be getting a green job. Maybe next time you’re here, you can present that.”
Doocy went on to cite Trumka, the president of the AFL-CIO: “I wish he, the president, would have paired that more carefully he did second by saying, ‘Here’s we are creating the jobs.’ So there’s partial evidence from Richard Trumka,” Doocy sneered.
Psaki was ready for Doocy’s cherrypicked statement. “Well, you didn’t include all of his interview,” Psaki retorted. “Would you like to include the rest?” Psaki offered before Doocy went on a different tangent.
“Well, what Mr. Trumka also indicated, in the same interview, was that ‘President Biden has proposed a climate plan with transformative investments in infrastructure and laid out a plan that would not only create millions of good union jobs but also help tackle the climate crisis,” Psaki quoted.
