“We have a lot of drunk drivers in America that kill a lot of people,” Kennedy noted, adding, “We ought to try to combat that too … the answer is not to get rid of all sober drivers.” Kennedy failed to recognize that all drivers in the US are licensed, that they all take periodic tests to ensure they can continue to drive safely, that there are checkpoints set up to ensure people are not driving drunk and that bars and restaurants are routinely held liable for people they knowingly let operate a vehicle who are incapacitated – all things the NRA-owned GOP refuses to consider when discussing guns ownership.
