In a unanimous decision, the New Mexico Supreme Court ruled that the state does not have to compensate businesses that incurred losses due to restrictions and public health regulations put in place to curb the spread of the coronavirus, the Associated Press reports.
More than 20 cases had been filed over the past year against the administration of Democratic Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham seeking damages and lost income the plaintiffs claimed were due to the state shut-downs. The decision of the court dismisses all those cases.
