National Zero could probably be reasonably described in a sentence as “Republicans doing and saying dumb and/or evil shit and other assorted news of varying relevance”. We cover a lot of the corruption and hypocrisy out there wrought by America’s 74 million-strong metastatic tumor, ranging from the merely petty cruelties – Trump supporter hit with felony vandalism charge for doing burnout on pride mural – to the genocidal – Whistleblower says DHS committing genocide at ICE facility with forced hysterectomies being performed on female detainees – to the comical – Republican Oklahoma Governor’s campaign fundraising off Chick-fil-A sauce shortage, which is Joe Biden’s fault – to the fascistic – Trump regime subpoenaed Apple for personal data from Schiff, another Intel Committee Dem, family members in 2017 – and everything in between.
As the old chestnut goes, their bad behavior is almost universally a feature, not a bug. The end always justifies the means for nihilists whom for everything a zero sum game. There’s nothing hypocritical about screaming over dead people supposedly voting even though the only ones who got caught casting ballots for dead people were voting for Trump, because the Democrats get away with all the time, so why not even the score? Your state’s people are suffering because of power outages directly attributable to deregulation? Might as well score some political points by ripping that socialist cunt who raised over $3 million in charitable aid for them. Corporate cancel culture got you down? Well cancel those high-fallutin white collar commies back!
We get that hypocrisy and evil are cool because they own the Libs. We know Hunter Biden is a global criminal mastermind crackhead and Don Jr is just a regular dude whose book just happened to hit the New York Times bestseller list simply because so many Republican donors loved it. There’s no shame over such inconsistencies because shame is for socialists. Feature, not bug.
What we don’t get is why Republicans these days so rarely appear to show shame or compunction for the stupid shit they say and do though. Jim Jordan really does not seem to care that he’s made to look so fucking dumb so often. Tommy Tuberville just blithely continues being a laughable dumbass all the time. Louisiana Senator John Kennedy seems unbothered by his own asshattery. Josh Hawley. Marsha Blackburn. Lauren Boebert. Madison Cawthorn. Louie Gohmert. Marjorie Taylor Greene. Devin Nunes. Ted Cruz (can’t even pick one for him, there are too goddamned many) could have his own goddamned website dedicated solely to his stupidity. They never seem to fucking care how much people laugh at them. It’s just self-own after self-own after self-own.
And if they’re all made in their own God’s self-image then it’s safe to say they do a poor job of following his example on this part. Trump has tried to walk back stupid shit he said and did. It usually was unbelievable – like trying to play his infamous disinfectant injection moment by saying he was being “sarcastic” – or made things that much worse – like the Sharpiegate clusterfuck causing internal strife at the National Weather Service. He was tacitly admitting he fucked up and made himself look like a jackass, even if in the worst ways possible.
He was worried then as the above mentioned Republicans should be now that they’re handing Democrats easy ammunition to mock them. You can’t say “Deal with it Libtards” so easily when you’re caught complaining that Hawaii was left out of spending plans for fucking Amtrak. Maybe the best you can do in that situation is just move on and act like it didn’t happen.
Republicans are pretty big on that these days.
