Cook Political Report’s “I’ve seen enough” guy Dave Wasserman says he’s seen enough to call the Texas 6th district special election for Jake Ellzey over Trump-backed Susan Wright, adding “Before drawing sweeping conclusions about the outcome, a reminder: turnout in this runoff was fairly pathetic. With all early votes and most election day votes reported, there are only 37k votes counted – less than 8% of registered voters in #TX06 and less than half of 5/1 votes cast.”
What Dave’s leaving out is that Trump put a lot of political capital behind Susan Wright (for whatever stupid reason he did) and will be pretty pissed at Jake Ellzey for winning a runoff election he wasn’t supposed to, which we guess makes him a RINO.
