Not all Red Hats threatened Congress during the January 6th domestic terrorist attack on the Capitol: a Massachusetts Trump lover has pleaded guilty to leaving threatening messages to six members of Congress nearly a month before the insurrection attempt.
According to a statement by the Department of Justice, 34-year-old Ryder Winegar of Amherst made early morning phone calls on December 16, 2020, to half a dozen members of Congress, telling them, “I got some advice for you. Here’s the advice, Donald Trump is your president. If you don’t get behind him, we’re going to hang you until you die.”
Winegar, who left his name or phone number on many of the messages, also emailed a member of the New Hampshire Legislature to say he was going to pull the member from bed and hang him. He was indicted in February and charged with six counts of threatening members of Congress and one count of transmitting interstate threatening communications. He will be sentenced in December.
