Contrary to the opinions of conservative television hosts that characterize it as an unliveable urban hellscape, the editors of the TimeOut travel and lifestyle site have named San Francisco as the best city in the world.
After surveying 27,000 readers, the editors consulted with experts on food, drink, culture, social life and sustainability to identify the cities that help their residents thrive. The way the residents of the city adapted to coronavirus restrictions were also considered.
“In at number one? San Francisco, which ranked top thanks to its progressive politics, community initiatives and readily available weed,” the editors wrote. “In second place was Amsterdam, with its pioneering approach to sustainability, and third was Manchester, which came top in categories including friendliness, resilience and nightlife.”
