“Leslie Wexner, the billionaire founder of L Brands Inc., faces a demand for questioning by Alan Dershowitz in a court fight between the Harvard law professor and Jeffrey Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre” Bloomberg reports.
“Dershowitz’s lawyers are asking a federal judge to compel the 83-year-old to sit for a deposition, saying he would play a central role in their client’s defense against Giuffre’s lawsuit. In her suit, Giuffre claims Epstein trafficked her for sex to a group of men, including the law professor, beginning when she was 16. Giuffre sued Dershowitz for defamation after he publicly called her a liar. Dershowitz countersued, alleging that she fabricated her claims to extort a payoff from the billionaire. Epstein, who died in jail last year while facing federal charges of sex-trafficking girls, had a longstanding relationship with Wexner, managing his fortune for years. Wexner said last year that Epstein had deceived him and ‘misappropriated vast sums of money.’ The subpoena from Dershowitz, which has now come to light, came just before the arrest of Epstein’s former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, whom Giuffre also sued for defamation after Maxwell denied her claims that she recruited Giuffre as a ‘sex slave’ for Epstein. That suit triggered perjury charges against Maxwell, who was arrested last month on sex-trafficking charges and has pleaded not guilty.”
