Associated Press, NY Times call New Jersey gov race for Murphy

Democratic incumbent governor Philip Murphy won reelection in a close contest, the Associated Press and NY Times declared Wednesday evening. Murphy’s lead is expanding as mail-in ballots from around the state are being counted. He has a 1.211 million to 1.192 million lead over Republican Jack Ciatterelli. Murphy becomes the first Democratic governor to win reelection in New Jersey since Brendan Byrne in 1977.
