ORIGINAL STORY: After Spotsylvania County, Virginia school board members openly suggested burning books during a school board meeting earlier this month, someone in Fredericksburg, decided to take the thought a step further and set up a good ol’ fashioned book burning for mid-December.
“Start having your children check out library books from there schools now! (Ones you do NOT want in our schools),” the invitation reads. “At the school board meeting we will have a fire pit in the parking lot. And will burn every last one of them you bring. Yes, at the end of the year, we will have to pay for them. But this year no one will be able to check them out. Feel free to bring marshmallows and a stick.”
