New York man, 29, charged with shooting parents on Christmas

A 29-year-old New York man has been arrested for shooting his elderly parents, ages 64 and 65, in a Christmas assault that left both of his parents injured and hospitalized, Newsweek reports.

The unidentified man shot his 64-year-old mother in the head and her 65-year-old husband in the back at the family’s home in Hewlett Harbor, a Nassau County Police Department spokesperson said.

The couple was conscious and in stable condition at a local hospital. Their son was arrested after fleeing to Mahwah, New Jersey.
