Mississippi Democrat Bennie Thompson, chair of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th domestic terrorist attack on the Capitol, is reportedly considering having live hearings during prime time to promote viewership and increase the transparency of the hearings, Bloomberg reports.
“Maybe a series of hearings,” Thompson said Tuesday in an interview. “The public needs to know, needs to hear from people under oath about what led up to January 6th, and to some degree, what has continued after January 6.”
The televised hearings could occur in late March or early April, Thompson said. The committee cannot demand television networks carry the hearings live, which means they would likely not get aired on the big four networks–ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC–and it would definitely not be aired on the Fox propaganda network, so live viewing would likely be limited to CNN and MSNBC.
