A local news helicopter caught an early glimpse of the new name for the NFL’s Washington Football Team, which retired its racist old mascot two seasons ago, WRC NBC-4 in Washington reports.
The NBC-4 chopper flew over FedEx field, where the team is scheduled to announce the new name on Wednesday. The news crew saw banners with the name “Washington Commanders” in the team’s burgundy and gold colors hanging in the team store.
