On Saturday night, an unauthorized tweet came from a campaign account. I regret that this happened and it shouldn’t have. I have addressed it with my team. We must continue to work to bring Virginians together. There is so much more that unites us than divides us.

On Saturday, Virginia teenager Ethan Lynne tweeted an inaccurate article from Virginia Public Media which reported Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin had replaced an slavery history office in the governor’s mansion with a “family room” (something both Lynne and VPM later corrected). In response, Youngkin’s campaign account then tweeted a picture of Lynne with former Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, referencing Northam’s 2019 blackface pic controversy, writing “Here’s a picture of Ethan with a man that had a Blackface/KKK photo in his yearbook,” which, should go without saying, is pretty fucking demented to attack a random 17 year old kid on Twitter.
Lynne said he’s still yet to receive an apology from Youngkin, who obviously does not seem keen on apologizing so much as publicly wishing the libs would just shut up about it already.
