The mayor of Windsor, Ontario announced that he is seeking a court order that would allow the city to remove–by force, if necessary–the truckers blocking the Ambassador Bridge, shutting down a major trade highway between Canada and the United States, Reuters reports.
“(If) the protesters don’t leave, there will have to be a path forward. If that means physically removing them, that means physically removing them, and we’re prepared to do that,” Drew Dilkens, mayor of Windsor, Ontario said. The blockade has caused factories on both sides of border to shut down as vital parts and ingredients are unable to cross into the other country.
The truckers are protesting US regulations that require them to be fully vaccinated in order to drive into the United States.
