Moments after a single bullet hit a police car containing four officers Tuesday night, shattering its back window, a Philadelphia police officer shot a 12-year-old boy suspected in the shooting in the back, killing him, the Associated Press reports.
After the round hit the cop car, two officers took off in pursuit of Thomas Siderio Jr., firing multiple shots as they ran before one struck him in the back. The officers then loaded the boy in the car and took him to a local hospital where he died.
The officers were called to the area after police monitored social media posts about gunplay in the neighborhood. An officer in the car was injured in the face and eye by flying glass from the bullet.
