Lower-level MAGA staffer Scott Johnston, who worked on planning the “Stop the Steal” rally at the Ellipse on January 6th, 2021, tells Rolling Stone that he overheard former Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows encouraging Trump fans to march toward the Capitol over the phone. “They were very open about how there was going to be a march. Everyone knew there was going to be a march,” said Johnston to Rolling Stone, adding that Meadows, along with aide Katrina Pierson and Women for Trump Exec Director Kylie Kremer (daughter of founder Amy Kremer) were deliberately trying to direct the crown toward the Capitol “make it look like they went down there on their own.”
Johnston, who has testified the same to the House January 6th Select Committee, says he clearly overheard this multiple times on speakerphone as he drove Kremer around in the three days preceding the insurrection. Which of course raises the question of what the fuck did they think was going to happen when they made sure ten thousand angry, violent assholes were told to march on a building which they knew was not guarded by any troops but only a much smaller contingent of Capitol Police officers, raising the likelihood they knew full well there would be an attack.
