The ex-wife of Republican former Missouri Governor and Senate candidate Eric Greitens stated in a court filing that she has photographs and other records that document episodes of abuse she suffered at the hand of her spouse, the Missouri Independent reports.
Fighting for custody of her children, Sheena Greitens claims that Eric threatened suicide when he was under investigation while he was governor for corruption charges. In another in incident, their son returned from a visit with his father with swollen face, bleeding gums and loose tooth, claiming his father hit him in the face.
Eric Greitens has claimed that the allegations were concocted by Republican operative Karl Rove and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to drive him from the Senate race because of his adoration of Donald Trump. Eric Greitens says these claims arose because of his political power, a claim his ex-wife denies.
“In fact, they were reported to multiple lawyers, therapists, and our mediator, in 2018 and afterward,” Sheena Greitens said. “I will provide contemporaneous documentation of the relevant communications, as well as photographic evidence of my child’s 2019 injuries, to the court at an appropriate time.”
