Ten people were shot and two others injured in the ensuing chaos after shots rang out Saturday afternoon at a shopping mall in Columbia, South Carolina, in what appears to be a gunfight involving three people, the Associated Press reports.
“We don’t believe this was random,” Columbia Police Chief W.H. “Skip” Holbrook said of the incident at the Columbiana Centre. “We believe they knew each other and something led to the gunfire.”
Two people who received gunshot would declined treatment, while eight were taken to area hospitals. Two of the victims were in critical condition. The victims ranged from ages 15 to 73. It is not known if any of the victims were the intended targets.
