After hundreds of people have posted to various food safety websites and at least one hundred have filed reports, the Food and Drug Administration has opened an investigation into Lucky Charms cereal, the Associated Press reports.
“The FDA takes seriously any reports of possible adulteration of a food that may also cause illnesses or injury,” the agency said in a statement.
Minneapolis-based General Mills, the maker of Lucky Charms and other cereals including Cheerios and Chex, is cooperating with the investigation, but they have not received any reports of illnesses caused by the cereal.
