Donald Trump’s first administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency, Scott Pruitt, has filed paperwork signaling he’s going to run for the Senate seat of retiring Republican James Inhofe, the Washington Post reports.
Pruitt resigned the position after 15 months following a series of scandals relating to wasting taxpayer money and taking illegal gifts from lobbyists, issues that are unlikely to bother the Republican base.
Pruitt installed a $43,000 soundproof booth in his office as EPA Secretary and required a full security detail whenever he went anywhere for some reason. He required flying first class and staying in luxury hotels when traveling. And a lobbyist rented a DC condo to Pruitt’s wife for less than half the going rate.
