The US Department of Education has opened an investigation into far right diploma mill Liberty University’s mishandling of reports of sexual assault on campus, ProPublica reports. Numerous reports over the years in the media and in multiple lawsuits against the school indicate a pattern of assaults being buried and victims cowed into signing acknowledgements that they broke the school’s “moral code” by putting themselves in the situations in which they were raped or assaulted, even though until 2020 the school was led by a guy who would fondle himself while watching a younger dude bang his wife, which isn’t a very moral lifestyle choice.
For example, last November a sign language professor was arrested for sexually assaulting a student – fully 66 days after the assault allegedly occurred, and the arrest was only acknowledged by the University in December after a local TV reporter just happened to have come across the arrest record. Just days later a student sued the school alleging her report was “swept under the rug” by the “Christian” school after she became pregnant by a student who drugged and raped her.
