Texas Gov Greg Abbott’s moronic “border inspection” shitshow that lasted 10 days last month and found zero drugs or migrants hiding in trucks crossing in from Mexico was already estimated to have cost his state’s economy at least $4.3 billion, but now that the Mexican government have decided they’ve had enough of the weak man’s bullshit and will reroute a planned international railroad corridor into New Mexico to avoid future issues, the Dallas Morning News reports.
“We’re now not going to use Texas. We can’t leave all the eggs in one basket and be hostages to someone who wants to use trade as a political tool,” said Mexican Economy Minister Tatiana Clouthier last week that the T-MEC Corridor’s route will now take it through Santa Theresa, New Mexico, completely bypassing Texas on its planned path from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Mazatlán on old Mexico’s Pacific coast. Abbott’s options for retaliating against this “economic terrorism” are not clear at this point though they may include more racism towards Mexicans, a lot more racism toward Mexicans, or even an extreme level of racism towards Mexicans. Publicly demanding that his state’s junior US Senator boycott Cancun is probably not on the table, however.
