Facing an absolute beatdown in the October election for which already claims can only comes due to fraud, far right wing Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has learned from his American counterpart Donald Trump’s mistakes in his 2020 loss and has begun roping in military leadership to help overturn the result ahead of time, the New York Times reports.
Bolsonaro claimed “invited the armed forces to participate in the electoral process,” referring to the national election transparency committee on which he installed loyal military brass. “Did they forget that the supreme chief of the armed forces is named Jair Messias Bolsonaro?” The head of Brazil’s Navy, Almir Garnier Santos backed up Bolsonaro’s claims told reporters “The president of the republic is my boss, he is my commander, he has the right to say whatever he wants.”
