Running low on options to avoid testifying in his impeachment trial, Kenya Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday tried the old “too sick to be impeached” excuse, and checked into a hospital in order to duck the angry senators who want him removed from office yesterday, the BBC reports.

“The sad reality is that the deputy president of the Republic of Kenya has been taken sick, very sick, and is… in hospital,” said Gachagua’s lawyer Paul Muite. The Senate rejected a proposal to extend the trial another few days and will continue without Gachagua present. The deputy president is facing removal over the usual corruption and bribery charges common to African politics.

Continuing on his non-speaking tour of canceled public appearances and media engagements, Republican presidential nominee and convicted fraudster Donald Trump’s campaign announced he was canceling a planned speech at a National Rifle Association conference in Savannah, Georgia next Tuesday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

We have no opinion on whether Vice President Kamala Harris’s light media schedule during the the first two months or so of her campaign was more of the risk aversion the MSM said it was or if they were just being whiny, entitled cocksuckers complaining they weren’t getting the access they demanded. Under the cheeky headline of “Young Americans swipe left on Trump voters,” probably deliberately written to understate the self-perpetuating incel-dom of Gen-Z Trump fanboys, Axios “exclusively” reports that a Generation Lab survey finds 45 percent of women under 35 saying their opinion would change negatively if they’d found that their date had voted for convicted felon former President Trump compared to 39 percent of men saying the same. On the other side, 35 percent of young women saying they’d feel good about a Harris voter, compared with 28 percent of men.

Axios didn’t provide the gender breakdown of the anti-Harris dating set, but overall the numbers are 19 percent negative for her vs 43 percent negative for Trump. The positives are 32 percent for Harris overall to Trump’s 17 percent. “Not voting at all seems to matter less in the dating game than voting for Trump,” the normally GOP-friendly media outlet writes about his appeal to 18-34s.

A “person close to” Vice President Kamala Harris texted Politico Playbook to assess her performance in the interview-ish segment with Fox News’s Bret Baier on Wednesday, writing Harris’s mission was accomplished amid “constant interruptions and 20 straight minutes of attempted Fox-style gotchas, and she schooled him, shut him down, and got hits that Fox’s audience literally never gets to hear.”

“Even in difficult moments, Harris found a landing. When Baier played clips of Americans whose loved ones had been killed by an illegal immigrant and asked the VP whether she owed those families an apology, Harris showed empathy and admitted that illegal immigration was a big problem before pivoting to Trump: ‘But let’s talk about… an individual who does not want to participate into solutions,'” Playbook writes, plainly kind of disappointed that it wasn’t a trainwreck for the veep.

The term “journalistic malpractice” is far too professional for what happened on Fox “News” earlier Wednesday evening; it was more like a category listing on Pornhub.  The network’s supposed “straight news” anchor Bret Baier demonstrated why I choose to use quotation marks with the network’s name.  Come to think of it, maybe “straight news” refers to sexual orientation targeted, not professionalism, because there was nothing professional about that interview.  Baier stopped being a journalist and embodied virtually every conservative news site troll who solely watches his network:  angry, ignorant, and ill-informed.

Kudos to Vice President Kamala Harris.  Although she had to take a split second after Baier asked various questions to suppress a well-deserved smirk, she handled herself with integrity and grace.  At times, though, her face went from concentrating to concerned as she repeatedly heard comments from a Fox “News” comment section pop out of the interviewer’s mouth. Baier made multiple, exceptionally obvious attempts to goad Harris into an insult about Trump supporters, Fox viewers or the network itself; they failed.
