There could and should have been so many more campaigns like this over the last decade and only now in goddamned 2025 is there ONE notable former Republican-turned-Dem actually running for a major statewide office. Whether he can actually pull off a Dem primary win when former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has already declared is a question for Georgia politics geeks, but simply launching a bid on the other team is significant on its own.
