Pennsylvania Republicans in the state house loudly booed two former Capitol Police officers who were part of the force that defended Congress against the GOP-led domestic terrorist attack on January 6th, the Washington Post reports, hitting a new low for MAGA office holders.

Democratic House Speaker Joanna McClinton introduced Former U.S. Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn and former sergeant Aquilino Gonell in a floor speech, calling them “heroes” who “bravely defended democracy in the United States Capitol against rioters and insurrection on January 6th.”

At that point, people in the room said, the chamber erupted into chaos as Republicans booed and hissed the men and the description of an “insurrection,” while Democrats responded to support the visitors. “I heard some hissing and I saw about eight to 10 of my Republican colleagues walk out angrily as they were announced as police officers from the U.S. Capitol on January 6,” said state representative Arvind Venkat, who represents suburban Pittsburgh, noting he was “shocked and appalled.”

Justice Department: “A federal jury convicted a California man for sending threatening emails to the FBI, including ones in which he threatened to bomb the FBI Los Angeles Field Office and referenced the notorious ‘Unabomber.’ Mark William Anten, 52, of Sun Valley, was found guilty of two counts of threats by interstate communication. He has been in federal custody since December 2023.”

“According to evidence presented at a three-day trial, from July 2023 to December 2023, Anten sent a series of increasingly threatening communications to the FBI, culminating in two threats to bomb the FBI field office in Westwood. These emails included repeated references to Theodore Kaczynski, aka ‘The Unabomber,’ whose 20-year bombing campaign killed three people and injured nearly two dozen more. Kaczynski was convicted of federal crimes, spent the bulk of his prison sentence in the Supermax federal prison in Colorado and died in a different federal prison last year.”

“On Nov 20, 2023, two FBI task force officers interviewed Anten in front of his residence. During the interview, Anten admitted to sending the previous communications and the officers admonished him to stop contacting agents, the affidavit states. Despite the admonition, Anten’s conduct escalated.”

“On Dec 5, 2023, Anten sent to FBI agents an email in which he wrote, ‘I AM THE UNABOMBER’ and ‘I WILL UNABOMB THE LOS ANGELES FBI HQ.’ The next day, Anten wrote to FBI agents, ‘I can go on a mass murder spree. In fact it would be very explainable by your actions… You ain’t getting away with this one,’ and signed the email, ‘SuperMax or Death.’ Anten also sent FBI agents an email, which attached a photo depicting the results of an internet search for ‘how to make a dirty bomb.’ Later that day, Anten visited the FBI Los Angeles Field Office and later emailed agents that he visited their building and would continue to do so. Surveillance footage confirmed Anten’s presence there.”

A new Franklin and Marshall College survey of registered voters in Pennsylvania’s 10th District finds insurrectionist MAGA Congressman Scott Perry leading Dem challenger Janelle Stelson 45 to 44 percent overall, but also splits the sample on which respondents answered after Perry’s Orange Allah was convicted on 34 felony counts in Manhattan last week: Perry 49 – Stelson 42 before and Stelson 47 – Perry 39 afterward. In the same sample overall, Trump leads Biden 44 to 38 percent with Brainworms in third at 10 percent, but splitting again it’s Trump 47, Biden 36, Kennedy 8 percent pre-verdict, Biden and Trump tied at 40 with Kennedy up to 13 percent post-verdict.

Polling expert Adam Carlson urged libs to keep it in their pants, writing “the post-verdict respondents could just inherently be more Democratic leaning – either by chance (happens all the time) or because they were especially excited to participate in a poll right after the verdict,” which we guess is possible but one could easily say something similar about MAGA respondents overall this cycle, that their “enthusiasm” is artificially inflating Trump and Republicans’ numbers and why you see such wide gaps between mainstream pollsters. Another problem with that analysis: Would these Trump-to-RFK Jr defectors necessarily be “especially excited” and go out of their way to tell a pollster that they’re throwing away their vote now that Donald gave them an excuse to do so?

There are better reasons to dismiss this poll if one’s inclined to so, even if it’s by the well-regarded Pennsylvania outfit Franklin and Marshall, like the 6.1 percent margin of error and the small sample sizes at 392 overall split by 225 pre-verdict to 167 post-verdict. We need more time and data to see what the verdict’s impact is going to be on the presidential race and down-ballot. But the shift from Trump to Brainworms in a red district is notable and worth keeping an eye on.

Not hard to imagine the guy was careful when chatting on Grindr and didn’t write anything that was incriminating in regard to liability over “indecency” or whatever the “moral authorities” in those countries use, leading them to rig the meth charge as a means of punishing him indirectly for being who he is where he isn’t welcome.

Several of convicted felon former President Trump’s minions acknowledge to CNN that their Dear Leader was full of shit when he told Time Magazine in late April that he would be making an announcement “probably over the next week” on access to abortion pill mifepristone and that said statement isn’t coming anytime soon, despite Trump’s alleged “strong feelings” on the matter.

A woman who survived after being left, handcuffed, in the back of a police car when it was hit by a train won a $8.5 million settlement against the two Colorado towns that employed the police officers involved, the Washington Post reports.

Seen in a dashcam and bodycam video that went viral after the incident in 2022, Yareni Rios-Gonzalez was arrested after an alleged road rage incident and placed in the Platteville Police cruiser parked directly on railroad tracks.  The Fort Lupton officer who belted Rios-Gonzalez in the cruiser locked the door with her in the car, but seconds later heard a train horn.  Despite efforts by the two officers to try to get Rios-Gonzalez, they had to retreat as the train approached, demolishing the car.

Rios-Gonzalez survived the impact but still suffers from multiple injuries including a traumatic brain injury.  Both officers involved were charged with crimes:  one was convicted of assault and reckless endangerment while the other pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment.

Black MAGA Congressman Byron Donalds on Wednesday didn’t exactly do himself any favors in a hit with CNN’s Abby Phillip about his positive comments on Jim Crow in Philadelphia the previous night.

Emily Baden’s account should be investigated because it contradicts key parts of Alito’s letter to Congressional leaders as part of his official response to requests for recusal. And making false statements and assertions to Congress is a crime.

In a fundraising email with the subject line “God Hates Pride,” the Colorado Republican Party instructed its followers to take up a campaign to burn rainbow flags to demonstrate their bigotry and intolerance, ABC News reports.  With an accompanying video titled “God Hates Flags,” the state Party repeated a list of homophobic themes like LGBTQ people are promiscuous child molesters because they’re angry about Pride Month.

“I personally found it very troubling. I spoke with many LGBT and non LGBT Republicans yesterday who also found the message in the email disgusting and offensive. This email does NOT Represent the Republican voters of Colorado,” Valdamar Archuleta, the GOP candidate for Congress from Denver posted on social media.  A gay man, Valdamar continues to be a Colorado Republican.

Knocking down a flood of doctored photos and video appearing online over the weekend purportedly showing the disaster, the Pentagon issued a statement assuring the American public that the the US Navy aircraft carrier The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower did not sink in the Red Sea, CBS News reports.

Chinese and Russian bot accounts have amplified the lie on various social media platforms, with anonymous accounts on Signal feeding C-list conservative propagandists doctored photos to support their claims.  The claims accelerated after the Houthis announced they had fired missiles at the nuclear aircraft carrier.

“The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) remains in the U.S. Central Command region. The sailors and the ship are ready and postured to respond to any contingency at a moment’s notice,” a Navy spokesperson said on Tuesday. “We are committed to protecting freedom of navigation and commerce in the region alongside our partners and allies.”

A Wisconsin high school infamous for a 2018 photo of virtually the entire male student population giving a Nazi salute or other white nationalist hand signs (noting for one defiant standout in the corner) became the scene of another ugly racist incident during its Friday commencement ceremony.  While the graduates of Baraboo High School were being announced, presented with diplomas, and congratulated by school administrators, 49-year-old Matt Eddy leaped onto the stage prior to his daughter’s introduction and forcibly pushed Superintendent Rainey Briggs out of his daughter’s path, saying “I don’t want her touching him.”  Eddy and his daughter are white; Briggs was the only non-white administrator in the congratulatory line on stage.  Three uniformed police officers had to intervene, and Eddy is facing disorderly conduct charges.
