Team Orange looking to Judge Cannon to help block DC trial

Disgraced former President Trump’s lawyers are planning to lean on MAGA Florida federal Judge Aileen Cannon’s incompetent handling of the case brought by Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith over the fat fuck’s theft of classified documents from the White House to block the case over his post-2020 election coup attempt from going to trial in DC before the election, CNN reports.

As everyone eager to see the orange slob face convicted in a federal court before the election is well aware, the DC case is not going to trial on March 4th as originally scheduled because the Supreme Court are taking their sweet fucking time rejecting his “presidential immunity” bid, and instead he’ll go on trial in Manhattan late next month for the Stormy Daniels hush money payoff.

The earliest Trump could go on trial in DC is, if the Supremes deny certiorari this week, on May 12th, which runs into Cannon’s May 25th start date. The Mar-a-Lago trial is not going to go to trial in May, but the thinking is among Trump’s minions is that they can get Cannon to keep the DC trial in limbo by having Cannon keep moving the window. “Trump’s team believes the Mar-a-Lago case, if it’s moved July, could box out Chutkan from putting the federal election subversion case on the schedule once Supreme Court appeals are addressed. When July nears, Trump’s team or the special counsel’s office could ask Cannon again to move the Mar-a-Lago trial back, and she may consider it because of the complexities in the case,” CNN writes about the complex maneuvering.

Mike Johnson cornered on spending

President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Senate Minority Leader Moscow Mitch are going to squeeze Speaker Mike Johnson like a lime in a spending meeting on Tuesday, Punchbowl News concludes, explaining that the Dems are firmly in control given that blame for any shutdown would fall on Republicans and help make Biden’s election year case that they’re incapable of governing.

There isn’t even a framework yet and the Freedom Caucasians are already fucking pissed at Johnson for failing to make any gains on cutting into federal spending. “So while there are no major disagreements on policy that would traditionally lead to a shutdown, there’s a nagging feeling in the House GOP that Johnson hasn’t fought hard enough,” Punchbowl writes, which in normal people speak means that he hasn’t made any pointless, terroristic demands that they can use to go on conservative media and act like they’re the “fighting hard for the American people.”

Trump endorses Stormy

“Stormy Bradley is running for Texas State House District 72 against RINO Drew Darby, who voted to Impeach Texas’ Great Attorney General, Ken Paxton. As a State Representative, Stormy will fight to Secure the Border, Support the American Oil Industry, Champion School Choice, and Protect and Defend our under siege Second Amendment. Stormy Bradley has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” wrote fat former President Trump on Truth Social late Monday night.

Chesebro hid from Michigan investigators secret Twitter account he used to promote election conspiracy theories

During questioning by state investigators into his role in the fake electors plot, attorney Kenneth Chesebro failed to disclose a pseudonymous Twitter account he used to promote Constitutional-esque theories in the days around the 2020 election, CNN reports.

The account on the dead-named Twitter, BadgerPundit, is now locked as is its linked blog, but the account previously included tweets from two days after the election stating that the actual outcome of the election didn’t matter because Republican-controlled legislatures determined to whom the electors voted, not the popular vote, a false claim.  Those are claims Chesebro made in his efforts to undermine the outcome.

“You don’t get the big picture. Trump doesn’t have to get courts to declare him the winner of the vote. He just needs to convince Republican legislatures that the election was systematically rigged, but it’s impossible to run it again, so they should appoint electors instead,” wrote BadgerPundit on November 7th, 2020.

Court sides with Jeffrey Clark about docs for disbarment hearing

A three-judge panel in the DC federal appeals court sided with former Justice Department attorney (general?) Jeffrey Clark, ruling that Clark did not have to comply with an order from DC bar investigators to turn over potentially incriminating documents, Politico reports.

Believed to be one of the six unnamed co-conspirators in Donald Trump’s DC federal case and known to be a Fulton County co-defendant, Clark is alleged to have led an effort to have the Justice Department distribute a letter falsely claiming federal investigators found evidence of tampering or fraud.  The court ruled, however, that forcing Clark to turn over the documents from the time to the Office of Disciplinary Counsel “infringes on Mr. Clark’s Fifth Amendment right not to be compelled to be a witness against himself.”

Medical school gets $1 billion donation to make tuition free

Students admitted to medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx will attend tuition-free from now on thanks to a one billion dollar donation from the widow of a former Warren Buffett business partner that will eliminate student education costs, the Washington Post reports.

Ruth Gottesman, the chair of the board of trustees, made the donation that will allow the college to open admission to applicants who might otherwise not be able to afford the $60,000 tuition, part of $100,000 per year in annual costs, including room, board, and books.   Currently, about half of the first-year class of 183 students identifies as female, with 18% saying they belong to an under-represented group.

The private donation is the largest made to any medical school in history and is believed to be the second largest in the history of academic donations, topped only by a $1.8 billion donation to The Johns Hopkins University by alumnus and former New York Mayor who did not go nuts, Michael Bloomberg, which also aims at increasing diversity and opportunity at the university.

Peter Doocy directly blames Trump for border deal obstruction

Nepo baby Peter Doocy delivered some shocking news to Fox “News” viewers when he stated specifically that Donald Trump is the obstacle to any chance of implementing a border program.  And obviously, because the biggest national security issue is all those dang migrants at the border, Donald Trump is the cause of their problems, right?  Nope:  in Fox World, it’s Joe Biden who’s going to make passing the bipartisan border bill solution.

What we’re going to see from President Biden is going to be very political.  He’s going to be talking about how it is on Republicans to get a little bit of urgency behind them and pass this bipartisan Senate deal, but I was talkin’ to some Republican governors comin’ outta their meeting with the President at the White House on Friday and they said they didn’t really see the point of President Biden continuing to focus on that bipartisan Senate deal because, yes, Republicans helped negotiate it, but it’s dead right now.  Donald Trump put enough pressure on Republicans to kill the bill essentially.  He didn’t like it.  He got enough people, he’s the leader of the Party, got enough people with him.

DeSantis’s New College earns rare rebuke from Professors’ board

A national association representing the professional standards of professors in higher education issued a rebuke of New College in Florida, the unconventional university that Republican Florida Governor and failed… well… everything Ron DeSantis transformed into a conservative quasi-academic stronghold, WTSP-10 in St. Petersburg reports.

The American Association of University Professors made New College just the 12th college it has sanctioned since 1995.  AAUP cited the rapid exit of professional staff without warning or severance during DeSantis’s purge as one issue, along with falling credibility of the school’s leaders when it comes to supporting ongoing research and other academic work.

“Following the ouster of then-president Patricia Okker, the board of trustees and administration eliminated the college’s Office of Outreach and Inclusive Excellence and its gender studies program. They also attacked tenure and imposed new admission standards and athletic programs absent meaningful faculty involvement. All these actions violate long-standing AAUP-supported principles of shared governance,” the group said in its announcement, with serves as a warning to professors looking for positions about unfavorable environments in academia.

Seventh time’s a charm? Newsom faces new recall effort

A reconstituted group of MAGA anti-constitutional obstructionists launched a new recall effort to unseat Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom, saying Newsom has already abandoned the state to sate his higher ambitions, the San Jose Mercury News reports.

“Governor Newsom has abandoned the state to advance his presidential ambitions, leaving behind a $68 billion budget deficit and a public safety, immigration and education crisis,” the group, Hotel Rescue California, stated in a press release.

Newsom didn’t seem worried about the seventh attempt to recall him, saying, “Earlier today, the same Trump Republicans who led the recall effort against me in 2021 announced they are launching another recall campaign against me this year. We beat them once–handily–and we’ll do it again if we must. But I can’t do it alone.”

New York Democrats vote down new Congressional district map designed by bipartisan commission, will take second attempt

The Democrats in the New York state legislature voted down a new Congressional map drawn by a bipartisan commission, essentially giving themselves another attempt to swing the state’s representation, NBC News reports.

The story starts with the state court throwing out the first Congressional map drawn by the state legislature in 2021 because it was egregiously gerrymandered.  The Court created a map that was used in 2022 and led to 11 Republican wins versus 15 for Democrats; Republicans typically won 9 or 10 seats in the state.  The Court then said an independent bipartisan group should draw the map, with the state’s elected representatives voting to approve.  Well, the legislature didn’t approve, so we’re back at Step One.

In a House of Representatives where Republicans hold the majority by a Gaetz and a Marge, two seats potentially flipping Democratic in the next election could mean the difference between Preacher of the House Mike Johnson and the guy who really runs the House, Hakeem Jeffries, holding the gavel.

White power delivered to Junior’s Florida home, unexpectedly

An envelope containing white powder was delivered to Donald Trump, Jr.’s home in Jupiter, Florida on Monday, apparently without a phone call from the podcaster and Kimberly Guilfoyle boytoy to his local delivery service, the Daily Beast reports.  Junior opened an envelope he received in the mail and a white powder, which Junior said was not his, came out of the envelope.  Junior called authorities and the local hazmat team responded.

Lake attending second fundraiser hosted by QAnon fanatic

Republican Arizona Senate candidate and Governor in Neverland Kari Lake is scheduled to attend a fundraiser Thursday hosted by a couple who have continued to share their beliefs in the QAnon conspiracy theories online, the Arizona Republic reports.  The event will be the second fundraiser hosted by a QAnon-affiliated host this month Lake will headline; Politico reports she attended one hosted by a different QAnon couple on February 2nd.

Clinging on to a conspiracy that is so 2016, Lake will be joined by GOP Wyoming Senator John Barrasso at the event hosted by Monica and Brad Litle.  A Truth Social account linked to Monica Litle posted last summer, “This really is the entire lynchpin of everything from the Devolution Theory to the Q Op and the Great Awakening itself.  Either Donald Trump considered himself a Wartime President, and acted accordingly to root out a Deep State Globalist Insurgency, while defending from foreign subversion, or he did not.  If you believe the former, you understand Donald Trump. If you believe the latter, you do not.”

Earlier Monday, the account posted how “the Narrative Pillar of the Deep State’s System of Systems” which [superficial logic brought on by a lobotomy inserted here] leads to “the absurd push of anti-Putin, anti-Russia western propaganda, as Ukrainian Gen. Kyrylo Budanov has rebuked the MSM’s conspiratorial theorizing re: Navalny.”

Buck calls for Harris to remove Biden via 25th Amendment

While the economy and job creation outperform the previous administration’s and US influence on the world stage continues to recover from the Time of Trump Tantrums, lame-duck Republican Colorado Congressman Ken Buck called on Vice President Kamala Harris to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Joe Biden from office, Politico reports.

An opponent to the effort to impeach Biden because he says he didn’t see sufficient evidence, Buck’s resolution says things like “speaking in an incoherent and indiscernible manner” and has tripped up the stairs leading to Air Force One–yes, Buck thinks stumbling is enough to oust a President from Office–should force Harris to call a meeting of Cabinet officials to declare Biden unfit.

QAnon Shaman visits a different Capitol building

Iconic insurrectionist Jacob “QAnon Shaman” Chansley was treated as an honored guest of far right extremist Arizona state Senator Anthony Kern in the Capitol building in Phoenix last week, allowed to access certain areas not typically open to the public, the Arizona Mirror reports.

“I was looking at [Kern’s] guests and thinking ‘wow that guy looks familiar,'” said Dem state Senator Priya Sundareshan, who had seen Chansley around outside the state Capitol holding a sign saying “Q SENT ME!” before he became the face of the US Capitol riot. “I hope we don’t see a whole parade of others coming but he is, of course, the most prominent symbol,” Sundareshan said.

Chansley, currently running as the Libertarian candidate in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, then testified at a state Senate Appropriations Committee meeting for some fucking reason.

Russians arrest Ukrainian agent in Tucker assassination attempt

“A young man has reportedly just been arrested in Moscow in connection with an attempted assassination of Tucker Carlson. According to reporter Simon Ateba, the man who has been arrested was reportedly being paid by Ukrainian intelligence to plant an explosive device in a vehicle used by Tucker while he was there to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin.”

“A video has just been released showing a 35-yr-old man by the name of Vasiliev Pyotr Alexeieovich, who claims he was ordered by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukraine Ministry of Defense in November 2023 to take an explosive device to the parking garage of the Four Seasons Hotel in Moscow and place it under the vehicle used to transport Tucker Carlson. Mr Alexeievich claims he was going to be paid $4,000 for completing the task of attaching the explosive device to Carlson’s vehicle, but he was detained in the planning process. Near the end of the videotaped confession, the stone-faced alleged criminal admits his target was ‘American journalist Tucker Carlson’ and says, ‘I’m sorry for what I did,'” the Gateway Pundit reports.

Copied that verbatim because that’s the amount of effort it deserves. Just really think for a second what it would look like if there really was reliable evidence that Ukraine attempted and failed to assassinate Tucker Carlson. Really think about how it would look to the mainstream media and the Biden Administration if the Ukrainians got caught trying to kill an American.

Republican Congressman’s son tries that in a not-so-small town

Mississippi Congressman Michael Guest’s 20 year-old son, Michael “Patton” Guest, is in trouble after throwing a beer at a cop from the roof of MAGA country star Jason Aldean’s bar in downtown Nashville on Friday night, ScoopNashville.com reports. The article uses the words “plastic cup” and then “glass” twice to describe the receptacle that Guest Jr dropped onto the cop’s foot unprompted but either way he’s charged with assaulting a police officer and underage drinking.

“Waking up to calls from two US congressmen[R] wasn’t how I planned to start my Saturday. No, I can’t help that your teen kid did some dumb shit in Nashville overnight and got a mugshot. Also, no, having MY congressman[R] call me on your behalf won’t help, he’s also an asshole,” tweeted Scoop Nashville editor Jason Steen before posting he posted the article on Monday. Not clear if he was joking or if they were really were leaning on him to “help” by killing the story.

Google’s Gemini has a serious liberal bias problem

Much of MAGA Twitter is reacting poorly to the rollout of Google’s new Gemini AI chatbot assistant something, but being the principled journalists we are, we couldn’t just take right wing incel podcaster Tim Pool’s word for it when he claims “Gemini has posted tons of lies about me and has accused many others of serious shit like abusing kids” and other rants about its alleged anti-conservative bias. We had to go straight to the source… And holy shit they weren’t lying.
