Gorka bitches about Comer’s ineptitude

Hungarian Nazi “Doctor” Sebastian Gorka went off on feckless and incompetent House Oversight Committee Chairhick James Comer in a podcast episode on Thursday, ripping his inability to accomplish anything in his tedious investigations of the “Biden Crime Family,” Meidas Touch reports

“What are waiting for? Another letter to Merrick Garland? Another press conference? I’ve had it, I’m sorry Comer, you don’t know how to do a press conference. You have a press conference on ‘Romanian businessman gave Hunter Biden $32’… And your oxygen thief members of the committee are standing in front of the visual aids! This is what we voted for? It’s a joke!” ranted Gorka.

Biden Administration stops funding search for zombie viruses because what could’a gone wrong with that, right?

US AID terminated its funding for a $125 million program to hunt for, discover and catalog thousands of rare, exotic or isolated viruses around the world, the Washington Post reports, because someone finally figured out it was a really stupid idea.

Known as DEEP VZN — short for Discovery and Exploration of Emerging Pathogen-Viral Zoonoses–the program’s goal was to identify 12,000 novel viruses for further study through the program’s term through 2026. The goal was to learn as much as possible about these viruses to prepare for a future outbreak.

Virologists, ethicists, public health professionals, and I’m sure, zombie apocalypse fans warned that stirring up and storing these viruses might start a species-threatening pandemic.  While it’s canceling DEEP VZN, a spokesman for US AID said the agency will continue to fund programs to study diseases in more than 50 countries to help identify response issues if outbreaks occur.

Paqui pulls “One Chip Challenge” from shelves after teen’s death

After a 14-year-old Massachusetts boy died after undertaking the “One Chip Challenge” involving its grotesquely hot oddity, Paqui has pulled its product from the shelves, putting a quick end to a social media trend, ABC News reports.

Harris Wolobah died September 1st after eating the chip seasoned with a mix of Carolina Reaper Pepper and Naga Viper Pepper, which both have Scoville ratings over 1.3 million.  It’s unclear what precisely caused Wolobah’s death other than it was some type of crisis caused by his reaction to eating the chip.

“The Paqui One Chip Challenge is intended for adults only, with clear and prominent labeling highlighting the chip is not for children or anyone sensitive to spicy foods or who has food allergies, is pregnant or has underlying health conditions,” the company said in a statement while noting they’ve seen a number of reports of teens doing something they’re not supposed to do… ’cause that never happens.

Comer continues to oversell “Biden scandal” nothingburger

House Oversight Committee chair and grown-up Spanky from Our Gang James Comer again tries to sell his ongoing distraction effort to convince people about the corruption of the Biden family while mysteriously refusing to release any evidence.

“Well, honestly, Jesse, I think they’re eggin’ us on because, y’know, history has shown that when Clinton was impeached the Republicans lost the majority and when Trump was impeached the Democrats lost the majority but what we have here, the difference between, y’know, Clinton lying about his affair and Trump havin’ a phone call asking about corruption with Ukraine which by the way, did happen by Joe Biden.  What we have here with, with Joe Biden is a situation where he’s lied countless times about his knowledge and involvement in what is a major corruption story.  I think this is the biggest, uh, corruption story that we’ve ever seen from a high ranking politician in the history of America.”

Tim Scott: opponents spreading stories about “dating life”

No one cares who Tim Scott sleeps with.  As long as his partner/s is/are consenting adult/s, his partner/s is/are his business.  If Scott’s private life doesn’t spill over into his politics, good on him.  Of course, that’s not true for any Republican, but particularly for the South Carolina Republican Senator who’s been a confirmed bachelor.  (No, I mean the other South Carolina Republican Senator who’s a confirmed bachelor.  Y’know… the Black one.)

As NBC News reports, though, the presidential candidate won’t comment on what, if any, romantic relationships he’s had, but Scott believes recent buzz in conservative media circles about his unmarried status is coming from his competitors’ campaigns.  Last week, a round of stories centered on reports that unnamed Republican donors were nervous about Scott’s long-time lack of a public romance, questioning if a “confirmed bachelor” should can be the Party’s nominee.

“People plant stories that have conversations to distract from our rise in the polls, to distract from our size of our audience,” Scott said at a campaign stop in New Hampshire. “What we’ve seen is that poll after poll says that the voters don’t care, but it seems like opponents do care and so media coverage that opponents plant — it’s okay. Good news is we just keep fighting the good fight.”

Kari Lake’s lost cause somehow getting even sadder

Wow, so some right wing nerd with “Doctor” in his title claims he can quantify how much “negative coverage” in Google search results supposedly swayed the vote against you means the election which happened nearly 10 months ago was stolen? That’s really special, Kari. Good for you. Katie Hobbs doesn’t have anything like that going on. She’s just signing papers and stuff.

Brett Kavanaugh claims Supreme Court working on ethics issues

Supreme Court Justice and admitted blackout drunk Brew Brett Kavanaugh, who was accused of lying repeatedly during his confirmation hearing, has issued his assurance that the Supreme Court will address its mounting ethical issues that have eroded public confidence in the once-esteemed institution, the Associated Press reports, because the public should take the word of an accused sexual assaulter.

Speaking at an Ohio conference of judges, court officers, lawyers and other judicial professionals, Kavanaugh told the audience that the nine justices recognize the declining public confidence in the Supreme Court and that he expected them to take “concrete steps soon” toward a public ethics standard.

“We can increase confidence. We’re working on that,” Kavanaugh said, adding, “There’s a storm around us in the political world and the world at large in America.  We, as judges and the legal system, need to try to be a little more, I think, of the calm in the storm.”

Tarrio vs Tarrio

Former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio, September 5, 2023 at his sentencing hearing: “I want to voice… how sorry I am for January 6th. I want to start addressing those affected – those on the front lines… I’ve heard some people villainize these officers, calling them traitors or un-American. These officers deserve nothing but praise, respect for heroes they are… How would I feel if someone came to my home and turned it upside down… Citizens of DC deserve better. To citizens of DC, I’m profusely sorry for what happened that day… This trial has humbled me… I’m not a political zealot… Changing the results of an election was not my goal… With everything inside me, I wish everything that happened that day didn’t happen… I pray for unity for this entire country.”

Former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio, September 7, 2023 via Telegram: “America no longer has a right to criticize the Russian or Chinese governments over harsh sentences to dissidents. It no longer has the moral high ground when it comes to treatment of its prisoners. Rapists, Child Molesters and Murders get sentenced to much less. My crime you ask? Speaking the truth. I am literally fighting for my life…22 years of it. They started with Trump… Now they’ve got to me. How long before it is you sitting in solitary confinement for speaking out? I’m willing to bet its not long. I have never asked for anyone to donate to me. Today I have to put that pride aside and think of my family and my fight to be free again. Please help my family by donating below.”

Jim Jordan recovers from Fani Willis publicly handing him his balls by going after Jack Smith with more of the same stupid bullshit

Plainly feeling more than a little emasculated after getting utterly defiled by Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis on Thursday morning, House Judiciary Committee wrestler Jim Jordan decided to recover some of his self-esteem and pretend he was still in charge by sending another one of his stupid letters to Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith, demanding he answer questions about a non-incident of “prosecutorial misconduct” everyone’s already forgotten about that surfaced in the lead-up to fat former President Trump’s first federal indictment for having stolen classified documents from the White House and hoarded them at his chintzy Floridian catering hall.

“The Committee on the Judiciary is continuing its oversight of the Biden Justice Department’s commitment to impartial justice and its handling of a special counsel investigation against President Biden’s chief opponent in the upcoming presidential election. Last year, Jay Bratt one of your senior prosecutors and top aides allegedly improperly pressured Stanley Woodward, a lawyer representing a defendant indicted by you, by implying that the Administration would look more favorably on Mr Woodward’s candidacy for a judgeship if Mr Woodward’s client cooperated with the Office of the Special Counsel.’ This attempt to inappropriately coerce Mr. Woodward raises serious concerns about the abusive tactics of the Office of the Special Counsel and the Department’s commitment to its mission to uphold the rule of law and ensure impartial justice,” Jordan wrote, like he was staring at himself in the mirror saying “you’re a bad motherfucker and nobody screws with you. That bitch Willis and her fucking ‘Bar Association member’ shit. Fuck her. Stupid bitch. You’ll show her.”

Libs derail press conference that already wasn’t really on the rails

Navarro convicted of contempt of Congress

One-time Trump economic advisor Peter Navarro has been convicted of contempt of Congress by a jury in Washington, DC for failing to comply with a subpoena issued by the House Select Committee investigating the Republican-led domestic terrorist attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

According to NBC News, Navarro claims he didn’t honor the subpoena because then-President Donald Trump has claimed executive privilege and instructed Navarro not to testify.  However, Navarro could not produce any such order nor did Trump confirm his privilege claim.  “That man thinks he’s above the law,” federal prosecutor John Crabb said in his closing statement. “In this country, nobody is above the law.”

Last year, another Trump advisor, Steve Bannon, was convicted of a similar charge and sentenced to four months in jail and a fine; Bannon is appealing his conviction.

More MAGA Michigan Maddock Madness

Former Michigan state GOP co-chair and fake Trump 2020 elector Meshawn Maddock wishes to correct the record on whether she was asked by CNN to comment on a story resurfaced by their “I got the receipts” guy Andrew “KFile” Kaczynski and reporter Em Steck. You can tell by the headline alone it was prooooobably something that isn’t going to help Maddock’s defense in her upcoming trial on eight felony counts of fraud in the fake electors scam where she’s facing 85 years.

Inmate P01135809 “may” try to remove RICO case to federal court

Lawyers for fat former President Trump on Thursday informed Fulton County, Georgia Judge Scott McAfee he “may” seek to remove his case to federal court, Lawfare’s Anna Bower reports.

“President Trump hereby notifies the Court that he may seek removal of his prosecution to federal court under 28 USC §§ 1442 & 1455. His written waiver of arraignment was filed on August 31, 2023. To be timely, his notice of removal must be filed within 30-days of his arraignment. 28 USC § 1455(b)(1),” wrote lawyer Steve Sadow, including the “President Trump” like he’s some white trash MAGA hatter who’s been to dozens of rallies in 17 different states, each time pissing himself in awe of the mere presence of the Orange Messiah and not a licensed attorney practicing in a court of law.

Trump already failed in his quest to remove the New York charges to federal court but the differing circumstances make any attempt at comparison pointless. The more instructive example might be with co-defendant Mark Meadows, who’s still awaiting a decision on his bid to federalize his trial. Even if Meadows prevails (reportedly that’s a jump ball) Trump still may have difficulty arguing that he was acting as the President and not a candidate when he threatened and harassed Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger among all the other shit which got him hit with 13 felony counts in Georgia.

Musk sabotaged Ukrainian attack on Russian fleet: report

According to a new book, Elon Musk demanded SpaceX engineers disengage a portion of the Starlink satellite network, used to provide internet access to isolated places, to areas around Crimea to intentionally thwart a Ukrainian surprise attack on the Russian navy in 2022.

Per a CNN report, Musk learned of a Ukrainian plan to use explosives-laden submarine drones for a significant attack on the Russian fleet positioned along the Crimean coast in 2022, and he feared the attack would be “another Pearl Harbor” prompting Russian President Vladimir Putin to utilize nuclear weapons in retaliation.  Musk balked at the use of his company’s technology to facilitate the attack saying later, “How am I in this war?  Starlink was not meant to be involved in wars. It was so people can watch Netflix and chill and get online for school and do good peaceful things, not drone strikes.”

Musk reportedly discussed the continued deployment and use of the Starlink system in Ukraine with US–and Russian–officials around the time of the planned attack, with Russian officials allegedly pointing out Putin’s displeasure with Musk’s contributions to Ukrainian society.  Musk disputes reports he speaks to Putin directly, billionaire oligarch to billionaire oligarch, about Musk’s position on the Ukraine invasion, which typically has a pro-Kremlin slant.  Ukraine’s deputy prime minister Mykhailo Fedorov had been communicating via text with Musk, stressing the importance of the Starlink system to Ukraine’s defense.

Josh Hawley worried Mitch McConnell’s health issues make GOP look like hypocrites for complaining about Joe Biden being old

Senator Bro from MO Josh Hawley tells NBC News he’s worried that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s health issues make it harder to portray the relatively spry but similarly aged President Joe Biden as elderly and infirm when McConnell is clearly worse off, almost if holding two different positions is doesn’t come easily for Republicans in virtually any other situation you can think of – not least of which would be fat former President Trump’s extreme mental health issues.

“Am I concerned about his health? Yeah, I am. I’m concerned about the president’s health. I’m concerned about his health, and, as I said yesterday, I don’t think you can have it both ways,” said Hawley, like they don’t try to have it both ways on literally fucking anything you can think of. “I mean, if you’re concerned about the president’s ability to do his job – and I am, and a lot of Republicans say they are – then you’ve got to be concerned when it’s somebody from your own party, right? It can’t be sauce for the goose but not for the gander,” Hawley continued, without a hint of irony.

Another anonymous GOP Senator similarly expressed more concern for the party’s political health than that of the far more competent and effective of its two current leaders. “Because he’s having health problems, it makes it more difficult to attack Biden. And yet I think it’s pretty apparent Biden has significant health problems. There’s probably a double standard.” Jesus Christ, lol.

Ohio GOP school board member throws Nazi salute when instructed by board chair to not speak out of turn

In yet another demonstration of their fourth-grade intellectual capacity, Tipp City, Ohio Republican school board member Anne Zakkour, takes offense when board president Simon Patry, a fellow Republican, instructs her to remain quiet as he had the floor after she repeatedly interrupted with interjections.  Zakkour, ever the exemplar of rational conservatism, responds by throwing the Nazi raised-arm salute in his direction and declaring “Sieg Heil,” because that is the appropriate response when being called out for being rude.

Fulton DA Fani Willis tells Jim Jordan to fuck off

Responding Thursday to spandex wearing grapple-freak Jim Jordan’s recent letter demanding she allow him to interfere in her ongoing criminal prosecution of disgraced former President Trump and 18 of his minions for their failed post-2020 election coup attempt in Georgia, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis told Jordan to get bent, calling him out specifically and personally for ignoring a subpoena from the House January 6th Select Committee, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

“Its obvious purpose is to obstruct a Georgia criminal proceeding and to advance outrageous misrepresentations. As I make clear below, there is no justification in the Constitution for Congress to interfere with a state criminal matter, as you attempt to do… Your letter makes clear that you lack a basic understanding of the law, its practice and the ethical obligations of attorneys generally and prosecutors specifically,” Willis wrote at various points in the letter to the turgid Congressman.

It was on the first page however she dickpunched Gym the hardest. “Your note calls to mind another letter recently submitted to a House select committee: ‘This unprecedented action serves no legitimate legislative purpose and would set a dangerous precedent for future Congresses… the American people deserve better,'” Willis wrote, quoting directly from Jordan’s January 2022 letter to House January 6th Select Committee Chair Congressman Bennie Thompson in which he openly refused to comply with a subpoena to testify as to his involvement in Trump’s coup attempt.

Well she might’ve punched even harder on page 6 with “For a more thorough understanding of Georgia’s RICO statute, its application and similar laws in other states, I encourage you to read ‘RICO State-by-State.’ As a non-member of the bar, you can purchase a copy for two hundred forty-nine dollars [$249],” ragging on Jordan for getting a JD but never passing the bar exam.

Paxton trial update: Lawyer says media making him look too tan

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s defense lawyer Tony Buzbee on Thursday complained in Instagram post that “the media” was making him look too “tan” in video and still images of the ongoing trial in which his client faces expulsion from office over his eight year political crime spree.

“Here are two pics from two different reputable news organizations, taken on the same day, within minutes of the other. I am out in the sun a lot, but I don’t think my skin has ever been that ‘tan.’ Why would they doctor my pic? I’m sure you could take a guess. So you think the news isn’t bias? Think again,” wrote Buzbee, evoking the complaints of another certain Ken Paxton ally who’s also supposed to have more important things to do than constantly obsesses over his appearance.

Texas Tribune reporter Robert Downen notes that the more orange-y image on the left is actually from the official livestream of the Texas state Senate, which doesn’t exactly qualify as a “news organization” (nor is it “reputable,” especially if they fail to convict this piece of shit). We would also add that irrespective of how much a broadcast feed or camera might oversaturate an image, Tony Buzbee looks like a douchey 1990s-era movie villain with his stupid slicked-back hairstyle and angry scowl. He’s just asking for Bruce Willis or Jean-Claude Van Damme to kick him out of an upper-floor window of a burning skyscraper and say “Buzz off, Buzbee!” or something just before the credits roll.

Jobless claims drop, productivity jumps

Marking four straight weeks of declines, jobless claims reached their lowest level in more than six months, coming in below expectations, while worker productivity jumped to its highest levels in three years, a new Labor Department report shows, per Reuters.

Jobless claims fell 13,000 to 216,000 in the week starting August 28th, according to reports, the lowest level since February 11th. Last week’s job creation report showed better-than-expected growth with downward modification on previous reports, increased wages, and growing labor participation rates.  Combined, the data demonstrate a job market with strong foundations devoid of signals of a reversal in the near future.
