Xenophobic alleged child sex trafficker Matt Gaetz, a Republican Congressman from Florida, introduced a bill ending birthright citizenship in the United States, something guaranteed in the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.  Using the derogative term “anchor babies,” Gaetz claims in a press release written by Breitbart News featured on his website, “Anchor babies are rewarded with birthright citizenship despite their parents having no legitimate ties to the U.S., many having only recently arrived. Years later, when the child is considered an adult, they can sponsor their parents and foreign relatives for green cards — anchoring their family in the country for generations.”

Less than 2% of all people in the United States were born with at least one of their parents being an undocumented immigrant, all of whom are US citizens per the Constitution.  Gaetz’s motion, which is doomed to fail, amplifies Republican talking points that play on fears that migrants will vote for Democrats.  Instead of developing policies that appeal to a wider field of voters, Gaetz and Republicans instead want to change the laws of the United States to allow only their acolytes to vote.

This is what happens when conservatives open a can of worms:  The US Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights, tasked with making sure federally-funded educational institutions do not discriminate against students, has opened an investigation into unfair admissions favorability for legacy students at Harvard, the Boston Herald reports.

The announcement comes weeks after the Republican-dominated US Supreme Court rejected race-based criteria as a factor in admissions, saying that one’s birth status should not trump academic credentials as the sole basis for admission.  Education advocates quickly pointed out that the children of wealthy alumni have a higher admission rate to Harvard regardless of their academic credentials, illustrating another alleged injustice similar to the claimed one used by the Supreme Court to overturn portions of affirmative action for minorities.  Their status as legacies, the argument goes, is an unfair advantage in admissions based on their parents, that other applicants cannot leverage.

UPS and the Teamsters have agreed to a five-year deal for 340,000 workers that includes $30 billion in funds to increase wages as well as improve working conditions like giving workers additional time off, equipping delivery vehicles with air conditioning and raising pay wages to something more liveable, Bloomberg reports.

Few people remember Richard Donoghue, Donald Trump’s last acting Deputy Attorney General serving under Jeffrey Rosen, largely because Trump had a merry-g0-round of “acting” officials in the final days of his disastrous term.  Using a notepad taken from his wife’s nightstand, Donoghue took notes during a late night call with Trump in which Trump ordered Donoghue to “just say the election was corrupt, and leave the rest to me and the Republican Congressmen.”

Well, according to MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin, now special counsel Jack Smith has interviewed Donoghue, who was acting Deputy AG from Christmas Eve 2020 through Trump’s last day in office, about that conversation and his notes, information that has largely been in the public domain since Donoghue testified to the House January 6th committee.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis asked a court to keep the Georgia special grand jury’s report on its investigation into Donald Trump’s repeated attempts to undermine the 2020 presidential election in Georgia, claiming that the information in the report should not be released until her office and a separate grand jury determine appropriate charges.  The filing supports a lower court ruling to keep the report from public, with Trump’s lawyers and others attempting to force the release of the report.

A special grand jury in Georgia is an additional outlet for investigation:  unlike a standard grand jury, a Georgia special grand jury can conduct into a specific charge or subject, but it cannot issue an indictment.

Right-wing anti-government iconoclast Ammon Bundy and his followers must pay an Idaho hospital more than $50 million after a jury ruled Bundy repeatedly defamed St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise by claiming the hospital violated the parental rights of one of his acolytes, the Idaho Statesman reports.

Officials at the hospital and with various child protective services determined Bundy acolyte Diego Rodriguez was endangering his child by denying him required medical care he needed for a medical condition.  The child was found to be severely malnourished and dehydrated after a status check at the ranch when the child and his parents failed to appear for a follow-up medical appointment.

Bundy and his fellow anarchists then undertook a campaign in person and online claiming the hospital took the child to use him in child sex trafficking and/or various medical experiments.  These protests including picketing two of the hospital’s locations, posting false and defamatory statements online and making threats against hospital staff.

Florida Republican Governor and oversized rugby ball Ron DeSantis was involved in a car accident on Tuesday as he traveled to a campaign event in Tennessee, ABC News reports.  No one was seriously hurt in the incident and the candidate’s schedule will largely go interrupted as he ignored the environmental, economic and infrastructure disasters hitting Florida as he goes around the country attempting to strengthen his weakened brand.

The Foreign Minister of China Qin Gang, a former ambassador to the United States, has reportedly been fired by President Xi Jinping, Politico reports, although Qin has not been scene publicly at least the last three weeks.

The 57-year-old Qin, a loyalist to Xi, had been named to the post in December and quickly forged relationships with Western governments.  Besides U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Dutch counterpart Wopke Hoekstra had all made trips to Beijing recently to work with Qin.  He’ll be replaced by his predecessor, 69-year-old Wang Yi, more of a Communist Party stalwart who headed the CCP’s Foreign Affairs committee.

In a pretty succinct snapshot of how fucked up things are in Israel right now, the country’s health minister on Tuesday sued to stop the state healthcare system workers from going on strike in protest of the Netanyahu Regime’s judicial coup, the Jerusalem Post reports.

It might be fair to question whether a judge would issue such an injunction given that the efficacy of any ruling that they might issue in any context could be overruled by parliament.

Following the successful passage of Israeli dictator Benjamin Netanyahu’s judicial coup bill enabling the country’s current far right extremist parliament majority to overrule the courts on any matter, former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Monday told an interviewer with the UK’s Channel 4 news the Jewish state is “going into a civil war now.” Olmert then backtracked slightly when the interviewer reacted with shock, saying “Yeah, I mean civil disobedience with all the possible ramifications to the stability of the state and for the ability of the government to perform.”

Olmert’s dire prediction echoed that of incumbent President Isaac Herzog, who issued a similar warning months ago when the Netanyahu Regime were first moving toward the power grab. But National Zero is anti-semitic for pointing out insane shit like this, according to the fanboys.

A Tullahoma High School has sued the school district as well as the principal and vice principal of the high school for violating his First Amendment rights after the student was suspended for Instagram posts skewering the principal, NBC News reports.  The student, who will be a senior in the coming school year, posted the memes featuring principal Jason Quick, shown above, to his account over the summer of 2022.

As school began in August 2022, the student was called into the principal’s office and told he would be suspended for five days.  The student suffered a panic/anxiety attack which made him physically ill.  After the school notified his mother, the principal met with her and told her the suspension was reduced to three days.

Two wealthy Dem donors have been identified by Insider as among the buyers of irresponsible crackhead-turned legitimately talented painter Hunter Biden’s pieces and one of the two, Elizabeth Hirsh Naftal, was appointed by Joe Biden to a seat on the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad, an unpaid post similar to an ambassadorship in that well-heeled donors often land them. Hirsh Naftal has donated $13,414 to the Biden campaign and $29,700 to the DNC so far this year and last year hosted a fundraiser with Vice President Kamala Harris. Insider doesn’t include any details on the other donor-buyer, Kevin Morris, who does not hold any similar post.

They were also unable to ascertain if the purchase came before or after Hirsh Naftal’s appointment to the commission, but either way as far as “self-dealing” goes this is pretty tame. She already donates to the Biden Campaign and it’s hard to see how she didn’t angle the spot independently of any purchase. The gallery transacting the sales goes out of their way to ensure that the buyers are blind to Hunter and the closest potential impropriety that Insider offers is that maybe Hunter found out that Hirsh Naftal bought the painting after the fact and then voiced his support for her appointment to the commission. But you know, this will still be an absolute atrocity compared to the innocent friendship a certain Supreme Court Justice enjoys with his billionaire Hitler fanboy friend from Texas and as such Republicans will no doubt be very much eager to make it a thing.

Speaking of which, on Monday the Justice Department sent a letter to spandex-wearing grapple freak telling them they “are deeply concerned by any misrepresentations about our work – whether deliberate or arising from misunderstandings” about Hunter’s plea deal with Trump-appointed Delaware US Attorney David Weiss, and said Weiss will be made available for testimony this fall.

Tafari Campbell, the 45-year-old personal chef for the Obamas who rose to public notice for brewing honey-flavored beers in the White House, apparently drowned while paddleboarding off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

While the Obamas were away, Campbell was vacationing at their Massachusetts property.  He was reported missing Sunday afternoon after he did not return home from paddleboarding.  His body washed up on shore Monday morning, police said.

“Tafari was a beloved part of our family. When we first met him, he was a talented sous chef at the White House — creative and passionate about food, and its ability to bring people together,” the Obamas said in a statement.  “In the years that followed, we got to know him as a warm, fun, extraordinarily kind person who made all of our lives a little brighter.”
