“Never Back Down” pro-DeSantis PAC’s field campaign going great

And by “great” we mean probably downright terribly, judging by a moment captured in a Washington Post report about what Never Back Down are getting for their money with these paid canvassers:

“With his foot on a front porch of a stately home in Charleston, SC, a canvasser for a $100 million field effort supporting Florida Gov Ron DeSantis (R) vented on July 7 about a homeowner who he said had told him to get off his lawn. Speaking on his phone while wearing a T-shirt with ‘DESANTIS’ in big font and a lanyard representing the Never Back Down super PAC, he used lewd remarks to describe what he would tell the homeowner to do to him. ‘And I’m a little stoned, so I don’t even care,’ he added, holding materials and appearing to wait for another homeowner to come to the door. The outburst – seen on a Ring doorbell video camera recording that was shared with The Washington Post – led to the canvasser’s dismissal this week, according to an official from Never Back Down,” the Post writes in their account of the incident leading into a long dive into the overall sorry state of the DeSantis PAC’s field operations in the early primary states.

It’s pretty entertaining. Not as entertaining as that time that one asshole in Nevada was caught gambling in a casino when they were supposed to be knocking on doors for Republican Adam Laxalt’s failed Senate campaign, but close. Might’ve been better if the Post had elaborated maybe a just little more on the “lewd remarks” about the other homeowner uninterested in DeSantis.

Jesse Jackson to retire from Rainbow/PUSH Coalition

Civil rights activist and former presidential candidate Jesse Jackson will on Sunday announce his retirement from the Rainbow/PUSH coalition, the civil rights organization he founded and led since 1971, Politico reports.  The 81-year-old Chicagoan has been suffering from poor health recently, including advancing Parkinson’s disease, the diagnosis of which he announced in 2017.

Federal judge dings Dersh and other members of Kari Lake’s team for $122,200 in sanctions for failed Maricopa lawsuit

Arizona federal Judge John J Tuchi on Friday slapped Alan Dershowitz and other members of Kari Lake’s legal team with $122,220 in sanctions for their frivolous dead-end lawsuit against Maricopa County officials for fake and grossly exagerrated “irregularities” in the 2022 gubernatorial election.

“IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED granting in part and denying in part the Maricopa County Defendants’ Application for Attorneys’ Fees (Doc 107). Plaintiffs’ counsel Andrew D Parker, the law firm of Parker Daniels Kibort LLC, Kurt B Olsen, and the law firm of Olsen Law PC, are held jointly and severally liable for the Maricopa County Defendants’ attorneys’ fees in the amount of $122,200.00. Alan M Dershowitz is held jointly and severally liable with the aforementioned parties up to the amount of $12,220.00. Payment shall be delivered to Maricopa County within thirty (30) days,” Tuchi wrote in the absolute bloodbath of a sanctions order against the “Legitimate” governor’s team.

Pence pushes back surprisingly hard against Carlson’s propaganda

We’ll pass for the moment on questioning the judgment of a supposed “Christian” organization using a proven-in-court propagandist to serve as a legitimate journalist/moderator for the forum, and we’ll concentrate on Sherwin-Williams’ model for the “Chalk” shade, Republican presidential candidate Mike Pence surprisingly being the only conservative in the room with a modest grip on reality.

Fifth Circuit halts social media no-contact order on Biden Admin

A three-judge panel on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday stayed that bullshit no-contact with social media companies order imposed on the Biden Administration after that asshole MAGA judge on a case brought by far right plaintiffs including Jim “Gateway Pundit” Hoft and the Republican Attorneys General of Louisiana and Missouri, Politico’s Kyle Cheney reports.

Movie night at Bedminster

Scumbags and sycophants attached like lampreys to twice-impeached and twice-indicted former President Trump will be treated Wednesday to a special screening of smash-hit QAnon action thriller Sound of Freedom at the Bedminster Golf Club in New Jersey where the only bigger star than the Orange God Emperor present will be washed-up Q-pilled and adrenochrome-obsessed actor Jim Caviezel of The Passion of The Christ fame, the Washington Examiner reports.

Based on an extremely exaggerated true-ish story of anti-human trafficking activist and ex-ICE agent Tim Ballard (played by Caviezel), founder and former head of Operation Underground Railroad, Sound of Freedom has grossed over $53 million in office receipts since its July 4th debut despite showing on relatively limited number of screens. According to some fanboy on Mediaite, the film’s per screen average is higher than Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny which, well there’s a fucking reason why Sound of Freedom isn’t as on as many theaters as Indiana Jones. No less than five Truth Social notifications linked to Post-Millennial articles since July 5th have touted the film’s relative success, three of those mentioning Indiana Jones and Disney-Pixar’s Elemental.

Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny has grossed an estimated $258,230,900 worldwide since its June 30th debut, more than four times the QAnon movie has so far, according to Box Office Mojo.

Trump takes case against Fulton DA to state Supreme Court

Fat former President Trump on Friday petitioned the Georgia state Supreme Court to disqualify Fulton County DA Fani Willis from the expected criminal case against him and his minions over the failed post-2020 coup attempt in the state, as well as to “quash” the report from the special grand jury which investigated the attempted treason, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

“Even in an extraordinarily novel case of national significance, one would expect matters to take their normal procedural course within a reasonable time. But nothing about these processes have been normal or reasonable. And the all-but-unavoidable conclusion is that the anomalies below are because petitioner is President Donald Trump,” Trump’s team wrote of their client’s victimhood.

Obama stalking Capitol rioter hit with federal firearms charges

Justice Department press release: “Taylor Taranto, 37, of Pasco, Washington, was charged in an indictment filed today on allegations that he illegally carried a firearm without a license and unlawfully possessed a large capacity ammunition feeding device on June 29, 2023. In addition, Taranto was charged for his involvement in the US Capitol breach on Jan 6, 2021. Taranto was indicted on six charges by a grand jury in the US District Court for the District of Columbia. These charges include one count of carrying a pistol without a license (outside home or place of business), one count of possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device, both felony charges. Taranto is also charged with four misdemeanors related to his involvement in the January 6 Capitol breach, including one count of entering and remaining in a restricted building, one count of disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building, one count of disorderly conduct in a capitol building or grounds, and one count of parading or picketing in a Capitol building.”

“Taranto was arrested on June 29, 2023, in the Kalorama neighborhood of Washington, DC. Prior to his arrest, court documents say that Taranto made concerning statements regarding the residences in the area and desires to commit acts of violence against a federal facility. During the arrest, law enforcement searched his vehicle and found two firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.”

Ohio Trump fan “accidentally” voted twice in both 2020 and 2022

A defense attorney for Shaker Heights, Ohio man James Saunders, himself an attorney who formerly worked for the IRS, told a judge on Wednesday his client “accidentally” voted twice in both the 2020 presidential election and the 2022 midterms, imploring the judge to “come to a just result here that acknowledges that, yes, mistakes do happen, accidents do happen” and acquit Saunders of the two felony voter fraud counts in the bench trial, the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports.

Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Andrew Rogalski said that might’ve worked if Saunders had only fucked around in one national election, not two. “The fact that you do that in consecutive general elections I think takes ‘accident’ to the land of imaginary doubt, and not reasonable doubt.”

Saunders, who FEC records list as a regular Trump donor, is accused of voting in person early in Ohio in October 2020, then again on election day in Broward County, Florida on the 2020 count. On the midterms count, he voted by mail in Florida on November 3, 2022, and then again in person back home in Cuyahoga County on election day, November 8, 2022. Another reminder that he probably would not have been caught if Ohio and Florida had not been members of the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC) at the time he voted. Both states withdrew from the compact earlier this year… Too late for Saunders, but just in time to help other MAGA cheaters in 2024.

Subtropical Storm Don weak, no threat to East Coast in forecast

Weak, failing, and pathetic Subtropical Storm Don poses no threat to land and is expected to limp along impotently far out in the northern Atlantic over the next few days before disappearing altogether, according to a Sharpie-free National Hurricane Center advisory bulletin. It’s very sad.

“At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Subtropical Storm Don was located near latitude 32.9 North, longitude 46.8 West. The storm is moving toward the north near 6 mph (9 km/h), and this general motion is expected during the next couple of days. A turn to the east is forecast on Sunday. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is expected during the next few days,” Deep State meteorologists wrote in their fake news bulletin.

Lots of people think it’s different and that the storm will soon strengthen into Hurricane Don – no, Super Hurricane Don – and will completely destroy the East Coast in a massive, massive wave the likes of which the world has never seen before. It will be extremely wet in terms of water. Those Obama-Biden Marxist swamp creature meteorologists ought to be put under investigation for lying to the American people about the sheer power of Don. It’s totally unfair what they did.

Malignant razorback not pleased to reap the whirlwind

It’s extremely unlikely shrill harridan Elise Stefanik is going to lose her seat if and when New York State Dems go scorched-earth gerrymander in retaliation for Red State fuckery elsewhere. The original 2022 plan, before the courts nixed it in favor of the “fairer” current map, had kept her vast, rural northern 21st District more or less intact and it’s hard to see how a redraw ever could given the constraints posed by Vermont, Quebec, and Ontario (you can see NY-21 shaded in orange in the image above). So while her anguish isn’t personally existential, it’s still fun to see her cry over the certain doom facing fellow Republican members of the Empire State’s US House delegation.

Biden-Harris 2024 campaign reports $72 million Q2 haul

“Today, Team Biden-Harris announced that it raised over $72 million from April through the end of the second quarter of 2023, demonstrating a sign of strong, early support and enthusiasm for the President’s reelection campaign. The team is also reporting today that it has $77 million in cash on hand, which represents the highest total amassed by a Democrat at any comparable point in history. President Biden and Vice President Harris have seen an outpouring of support in the 67 days since they launched their reelection campaign. The Biden-Harris team dramatically outraised the announced totals from every GOP candidate running for president, including Donald Trump by more than 2:1 and Ron DeSantis by more than 3:1,” says the Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign in a statement.

That’s freaking incredible with five more quarters still to go. Fanboys are going to be extra salty over Dark Brandon and Killer Kam more than doubling the Orange Defendant’s $35 million haul.

Suspect arrested in Long Island serial killings

A chunky middle-aged white guy long considered the prime suspect in the killings of at least 10 people whose remains were discovered in thick brush along a highway on a barrier beach south of Long Island over a decade ago has been arrested, the New York Post reports.

Architect Rex Heuermann, 59, of Massapequa Park, New York was taken into custody early Friday and is reportedly to be charged with the murders of the “Gilgo Four,” though not the other six victims whose bodies were found nearby at this point. “Gilgo Beach” is the small enclave west of the Robert Moses Causeway near where the four women’s bodies were found within days of each other in late 2020. The other six bodies, including that of an unidentified man and a toddler, were dug up after an exhaustive search of the area over the next two years. Sucks for Rex.

Majority support Inflation Reduction Act: poll

A new survey by Navigator Research finds on the question of “As you may know, Biden and Democrats’ legislation that was passed by Congress is called the Inflation Reduction Act, which will give Medicare the power to negotiate lower drug prices, bring down health insurance premiums, and invest in clean energy like wind and solar power. Knowing this, do you support or oppose this economic plan?” 66 percent of respondents, including 58 percent of independents and 40 percent of Republicans, saying they support it versus 23 percent overall, 22 percent of independents, and 44 percent of Republican respondents saying they do not support it.

The funnier part is that the question came right after “How much have you seen, read, or heard about the legislation called the Inflation Reduction Act passed by Democrats in Congress and signed by President Biden?” to which only 13 percent of respondents said “A lot,” 31 percent said “Some,” and the remainder at 57 percent saying “A little/Nothing,” showing that the MAGA media can only do so much to shit-talk about good policies after they’re put in plain terms to voters.

“After messaging on the Inflation Reduction Act, Biden and Democrats close the gap on trust when it comes to jobs and the economy by 4 points (to net -1; 44 percent Biden/Democrats – 45 percent Republicans) and inflation by 6 points (to net -3; 41 percent Biden/Democrats – 44 percent Republicans), and make further gains on ‘looking out for people who work for a living’ (to net +6; 47 percent Biden/Democrats – 41 percent Republicans),” Navigator’s eggheads write in the release.

Biden cancels $39 billion in student debt

The Biden Administration on Friday announced the cancellation of $39 billion in federal student loan debt, affecting an estimated 804,000 borrowers, CNBC reports. The move is the result of certain fixes to a forgiveness program certain borrowers were eligible for but for some reason got screwed out of. “For far too long, borrowers fell through the cracks of a broken system that failed to keep accurate track of their progress towards forgiveness,” said Education Secretary Miguel Cardona.

“We should not be taking this fucking vote, man… Fuck”

“Normal” Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace was overheard Thursday by a Politico reporter in a Capitol elevator complaining to her staff about the GOP amendment added to the military funding bill that prohibits the services from paying members’ travel costs to obtain an abortion.

“We should not be taking this fucking vote, man. Fuck,” Mace said after the amendment was queued up, adding “It’s an asshole move, an asshole amendment.” Then she ended up voting yes anyway.

Iowa Evangelical kingmaker down on Trump

Iowa Conservative Evangelical leader Bob Vander Plaats is sick of fat former President Trump’s bullshit, especially after being snubbed by the twice-impeached loser for his big event on Friday, with Vander Plaats now estimating to the Wall Street Journal that Trump’s ceiling is at 30 percent in the state. “Trump can be beaten in Iowa,” the Christian-ish kingmaker said.

Marianna Williamson tells staff campaign is broke

A recording of a Zoom call to her dead-end campaign’s staff obtained by Politico reveals new-age weirdo Marianne Williamson warning she’s not going to spend any more of her own money on her pointless primary bid against Joe Biden, so they better figure it the hell out and soon.

“I have put my own money in, and I don’t have the money to continue putting it in at the level I have,” Williamson said on the call “Cause remember I’m not making a living while I’m doing this.”

Later in the call Williamson responded to a volunteer who remarked that the Dem establishment was working hard to undermine her campaign, saying “It is shocking to us too. It really makes you wonder. I’ve never seen anything like this. And it does make you wonder… politics is dirty.”

Right wing provocateurs making bank on Twitter under new ad revenue sharing program

Under Twitter’s new ad revenue sharing model, only available to certain rightwing “content creators,” is generating thousands of dollars in payments for the influencers, many of whom had been banned by the platform before Elon Musk took over, the Washington Post reports.

Accused sex trafficker Andrew Tate posted that Twitter paid him $20,000.  Others like podcaster Tim Pool made $5,800.  An anonymous account with the handle “End Wokeness” reported more than $10,000.  They are generating revenue from the number of responses and engagements they get, encouraging more and more outrageous posts.

Twitter watchers and former employees, though, have expressed doubts about the legitimacy and sustainability of the program, with some thinking it’s a publicity stunt to spur content creators on rev share to create more.  Of course, it could just be a systemic error in Twitter’s accounting, which given Musk’s disastrous ownership record with the platform, would be right on brand.
