Democratic New York Mayor Eric Adams is reportedly considering using a closed Hudson Valley prison to house migrants seeking asylum who have been shipped to the area by Southern Republican performance artists in their state’s governorship, Politico reports.

Texas’s Greg Abbott and Florida’s Ron DeSantis make a point of targeting perceived liberal hubs to ship migrants to, an effort to embarrass Democratic leaders.  But those destinations don’t typically have the capacity to handle an influx of migrants, nor do they get the federal funds for immigration the Red states do.  Adams has already shifted some of the migrants to nearby suburban counties, but may use the Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill and unused campus housing at SUNY New Paltz.

Adams was recently booted off Joe Biden’s campaign list of official surrogates after criticizing the immigration policy of the administration.

A senior federal judge in Eastern Virginia ruled sections of the Gun Control Act of 1968 and various other regulations passed since unconstitutionally banned people ages of 18-20 from buying handguns from federally-licensed firearms dealers, allowing teenagers access to retail outlets, the Washington Post reports.

While there are significant loopholes in the law that allow people in the age range to get guns through private buyers or as gifts–there are no federal laws against people between 18 and 21 from possessing handguns–the intent was to prevent impulsive teenagers from easily getting guns that can be hidden on one’s person.  District Judge Robert E. Payne, a GW Bush appointee, frequently cited the recent SCOTUS case New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen to support his decision saying, “Because the statutes and regulations in question are not consistent with our Nation’s history and tradition, they, therefore, cannot stand.”

In a unanimous decision, the Supreme Court overturned the federal bribery conviction of Joseph Percoco, a former aide to disgraced Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who had been convicted of illegally helping two companies secure contracts with the state government, Reuters reports.

It’s not a cut-and-dry story, however:  in 2014, during an eight-month period after Percoco resigned from his state government position in the Cuomo administration to run Cuomo’s reelection campaign, Percoco allegedly demanded more than $300,000 to help the companies get contracts with the state government.  Percoco then persuaded an administration official to drop a contractor requirement regarding union labor to allow the companies to compete for the bids.

A new survey by Echelon Insights on the origins of COVID-19 finds “Was the result of a lab leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where it was being studied” leading “Originated in a wet market in Wuhan, China and was most likely transmitted to humans from an animal” 48 to 30 percent among likely 2024 voters nationwide, with the remainder unsure which one.

Which means either Young’s going to get run the fuck out of Congress or he changes his mind and ends up supporting Trump after he wins the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

CNN boss Chris Licht seemed satisfied with the shitshow of a Trump town hall event they broadcast on Wednesday night, telling staff during a Thursday morning call that “couldn’t be more proud of” anchor Kaitlan Collins while he’s “aware of the backlash” to the programming decision according to a readout of the call obtained by former CNN media reporter Brian Stelter.

“You do not have to like the former president’s answers, but you can’t say that we didn’t get them,” Licht told employees, many of whom Stelter (and not just Stelter) reports are angry about the town hall. “Kaitlan pressed him again and again and made news. Made a LOT of news that is our job,” said Licht, apparently without a hint of irony or any self-awareness that he’s proud to have violated one of the most sacred and fundamental principles of journalism: Don’t make yourself the story.

“While we all may have been uncomfortable hearing people clapping, that was also an important part of the story,” Licht continued, referring to the positive reaction Trump got from the crowd for again defaming rape accuser EJ Carroll just a day after being found liable for that and sexually abusing her, explaining that “a large swath of America” cheers on that sort of depravity and CNN has to try to appeal to them. “America was served very well by what we did last night,” Licht concluded, to which Stelter again notes that “Many CNN employees strongly disagree.”
